I always thought NJ & NY were on the same coupon schedule.

But NY did not get the free Wrigley's coupon 2 weeks ago as you stated NJ did. NY just got that coupon yesterday, Sunday 3/15.

As for the free Marcal coupon, NY got that last week, Sunday 3/08, same as NJ.

Btw, the coupon is for a max. value of $1.19, and the Wrigley slimpack contains 15 sticks of gum.

FYI for anybody in the NY area, the Wrigley slimpacks are $1.49 at Duane Reade and $1.29 at Walgreens. Not sure how much they cost at Rite-Aid. So, still looking for a NY area store where they cost $1.19 or less.

More actually, $1.61, if you factor in the .12 tax on 1.49. LOL.

Actually, there's no food tax in NY either. But gum and candy do get taxed, I guess, because they're not really food or essential. I wonder what the fourteen states are that pay tax on food.

In Texas, we have some weird law. If you buy chips or candy or soda, it's taxable if it's a single serving or multiple serving, I'm not sure which. It's one or the other but not both. Heck, if it weren't for the computer registers, I don't know if the merchants would even know. At some stores, when I buy Smartwater, which is NOT flavored, it's taxable. At others, it isn't.

Not to go off thread but in Texas, we have a sales tax holiday in August for most clothing and footwear under $100 per item, as well as backpacks. Obviously, this is to give people a break on buying clothes for the kids to go back to school. The sales tax holiday even includes infant and ADULT diapers. I have no idea what ADULT diapers have to do with back to school. Now, a lot of people are pushing for the sales tax holiday to include "school supplies." Can you imagine what a nightmare that might be for stores?? How in the heck can you program your register to tax one type of pen or pencil and not tax another type of pen or pencil??
