Here is the exact text from my copy of the wrap-around ad on my Hy- Vee flyer:

Save $10 When you purchase $40 of [sic] more of P&G products you will receive a coupon for $10 off your grocery order. The $10 coupon is valid on your next grocery order. Products must be purchased in a single transaction and the check-out coupon will print at time of purchase. Redemption not valid on P&G brands. ad prices effective February 19 through 25, 2008*

* I assume that your ad will have the dates for your market, e.g. 2/20-26

First, I notice some things.

It doesn't say "participating products" just "products." Does this mean any P&G products not just the ones pictured? If someone tries this, let us know.

It doesn't say what dates the Catalina (check-out coupon) promotion runs. If anyone has an announcement cat or if the coupon says, let us know.

"Redemption not valid on P&G brands." Does this mean that if in some later trip I buy a bunch of stuff and one item that happens to be from P&G, I can't use my $10 coupon? They wouldn't really want to discourage me from buying more of their product, would they? Or does it mean that we can't "roll" it? That is, that if we by $40 more of P&G product and pay for part of it with a previously earned $10 coupon, it won't print a new one? I'm guessing that it is the latter.

There could be a bazillion coupon combinations for this. I'll use the second post on this thread to start compiling them.

Just wanted to post a list of all P&G products from their website. I intend to try this deal with products not specifically mentioned in the wraparound flyer, because it does say "Procter and Gamble products," not participating products. Still working on what will be the best deal, though.

If I had enough coupons, I'd do it a second time. We are brand loyal to Iams for the indoor cats. I was able to get it for 0.50 to 0.60/lb right after the pet food recalls when everything was on sale had there where really good coupons out, but not any more.

I really don't need any of the other P&G products. Otherwise I'd have tried to get my subtotal down closer to $40.

Oh, and the cat didn't have any additional details about how long the promotion runs.

I did it tonight. I bought 2, 8 lb bags of Iams dog food, 1 small bag of Iams cat food, 1 7 lb bag of Iams cat food, and 1 bottle of Dawn direct foam.

I used a $8, and and 2, $5 coupons from home mailers on the Iams, and a $3 kitten from paper, plus a $1.50 dawn coupon from home mailer. So total of 19.03, then got my $10 back. So, yes, any proctor and gamble, and not limited to what is pictured in the ad.
