 Hy-Vee Catalinas
Every so often you may get a "Catalina" or a "checkout coupon" along with your receipt. (See http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums...ok-stores.html for a photo.) It's the narrow slips with the red edges. Or they may be printed in color without red stipes.
These may be "$x.00 off your next order" (money off your total purchase) or "$x.xx off when you buy xxxxxxx" (a coupon for xxxxxxx). Sometimes you will get one that is not a coupon itself but tells you of an upcoming promotion.
Sometimes the "$x.00 off your next order" type will be advertised in the weekly ad with clear details explaining which paticipating products you need to buy to get the reward. In that case, I will start a thread dedicated to coupon matchups for that offer.
Oftentimes the only way to find out about an offer is to be one of the lucky few who get the Catalina that isn't a coupon. If that's you, we need you!! Run home, go straight to the computer (okay, put the perishables away first... maybe), and post about it on this thread. Just type in everything the Catalina says. Then we will all know the promotion dates and what to buy so we can take advantage of it. (And you'll probably gets lots of reps.  )
The "$x.xx off when you buy xxxxxxx" type seem to be triggered for competing products quite a bit as an incentive to switch or from the same manufacturer as an incentive to try something else from their product line. Post on this thread about those, too! Tell us everything the coupon says including expiration date (put the coupon in the Coupon Database as well), and tell us what you bought that you think may have triggered it.
Some Hy-Vees, when they learn what the trigger is, will put out shelf tags. If you see one of these, please copy it down and share it with us. You do carry a pencil and paper in your coupon binder, right?
What should you do if you get one that someone else already posted? Post what you know! Did you get a different expiration date? Do you think something else triggered it? I guarantee that someone reading here will want to know.
If this thread gets enough traffic that it gets confusing talking about the different details, I'll consider adding a sub-forum for catalina deals like Walgreens and some of the other store forums have.
