HCW made it official... I'm mod of the Hy-Vee forum!

I've already been posting weekly ad threads.

So now I have more choices of message icons and can put "AD" next to the current ad thread. And I can sticky and unsticky threads.

Also, if you have any questions about Hy-Vee offers or policies, I can research them for you.

I still have my training wheels on, but if you have any ideas let me know.

I plan on double-checking the current stickies soon and maybe updating a few things. I have a few big deadlines at work right now, so be gentle!!

ETA (2/10/08): I now plan to use this thread to keep everyone informed of happenings in this forum.

Today I finally got the last of the old stickies down (thanks again to the previous mods!) and all the new stickies started.

I also started a new experiment with naming the ad threads. I'll try describing approximately where in the month the ad falls in the title and then putting all the possible dates in the first few lines of the first post. You should be able to read them my hovering over the thread title. And of course you can read them when you open the thread.

I also changed the post icons on the expired ad threads to X. The current ad thread(s) will say AD.

We are the number #1 forum on the Web for Hy-Vee deals!! So let's keep helping each other out. Some weeks the ad is a dud, but often one of our posters will spot a spectacular deal!

So, I put "Meet Your Mod" in the title of this forum. I guess I should tell you a little about myself. Not much, though--this is the Internet!

I live in central Iowa. I get the Des Moines Register and a small free newspaper for the town closest to me. I work in yet another town.

I am married to Husband and together we have Daughter, who is 7.

I work 40 hours a week outside the home at a desk job involving computers.

I have been trying to be frugal since March of 2007 and really only discovered couponing in early August 2007. My grocery budget (which includes food, hba, pet supplies, office supplies, paper products, and cleaning products--basically everything except furnace filters and gas for the mower) is $315/week.

I'm sure I could get it lower, if only I had a little more time to devote to following deals. Work has been crazy since early December, and I don't expect it to let up until late May. That means hardly any goof off time at work to hop on-line and put scenarios together.

I agreed to be mod 'cause I was already starting ad threads every week and I do want to give back to a site that has helped me so much!

Ah, you may have noticed I missed a few weeks of ad threads. I am really sorry!

A really nasty flu bug went through town and knocke my family out for a couple of weeks. Then there was catch up at work and prepare to visit family out of town for spring break. Now I'm in catch up at work from spring break mode, but I'm here and healthy! So look for me to get things organized.

I'm doing a bit of housekeeping--or is it "forum-keeping"?--today.

I added a thread you can check if you think a coupon may be fishy: Hy-Vee Store coupons ~ "Its Got To Be Real"

I just reread this thread and have a couple of updates:
- I got my monthly grocery under $300, but I don't know how far 'cause I haven't had time to track it in detail.

And in other forum news... those of you who have been around may have notice the we and the rest of HCW recently lost all the threads prior to 6/22/08. I think all we lost was old weekly ad threads and dead deals. They were nice to refer to, but not the end of the world.

However, if you can think of any important threads we lost, PM me and I can get them added to the list of threads the admins and supermods are working really hard on putting back.
