There are recipies on the bag, but I hear you. Even following instructions it seems to be almost a matter of luck. There has been many a time my family has sat down to eat, only to have to get back up and throw the fish back in the oven.

With the talapia fillets, I have had a lot of luck with pan frying. It goes sorta like this...
    - Put fat (oil, butter, etc.) in a skillet and heat onmedium high heat.
    - Be sure talapia is thouroughly defrosted and dip in something wet (water, milk, egg, juice, etc.).
    - Coat talapia in something dry (flour, corn meal, bread crumbs, crushed tortilla chips, etc.).
    - Place talapia in hot skillet.
    - Cook awhile on one side; flip and cook awhile on the other side.

The best tip I can probably give is to be sure the fish is thoroughly defrosted. I think that is what has caused me the most trouble in the past. Fortunately, these filets are easy. I just fill a big bowl with cold water and drop them in. They are individually wrapped! Swish them around occasionally. (Oh sure, I could remember to toss a bunch in the fridge before I leave for work. Ha!)

The "awhile" thing is just a feeling. I don't use a non-stick pan, so things stick when I first put them in. Then they sort of "release." That's when I flip. Wait too long and they stick again! Or you could keep checking and flip when the underside is "pretty." When the second side is cooking, you can cut one in half and see if it's flakey or mushy. This isn't a restaurant, your family won't send it back if it's been cut open. (I hope!)

So, I've only found one more possible good deal in the ad. Softsoap liquid hand soap on page 11. It's $1 and there were coupons this Sunday:
    Softsoap Brand Liquid Hand Soap, Any 7.5 Or 12 Oz. $0.35 /1 02-02-2008 Insert 01-06-08 SS1
    Softsoap Brand Liquid Hand Soap, Any 7.5 Or 12 Oz. $1.00 /3 02-02-2008 Insert 01-06-08 SS1
Des Moines Register did get the $0.35/1 which is the best I have ever seen (in the 6 mos or so I've been couponing. However, according to the database there are $0.40/1 home mailer and tearpads out there.

Also, this seems to go on sale all the time somewhere, but it seems it is always $1.00 or $0.99.

So, if this is your brand...

One more thing I'm getting before the ad runs out... (It seems that if I don't post about here, I forget to buy it. :shrug7:)

    1.99
    Chi-Chi’s
    salsa
    selected varieties
    16 oz.

    $1.00/2 from 12-16 SS

We are out of salsa. We used to get Hy-Vee Grands salsa because it was one of our favorites and not too expensive. But they made the jar smaller, kept the price the same, and changed the recipe!!
