    DD3 Hy-Vee deals 8/28-9/3

I hope it is not too presumptuous for me to start a thread like this. :newbie1:

Hy-Vee is one of the stores I have always shopped. I was hoping to see if anyone gets good deals there, and thought I'd go first. Seems fair.

You can get the ad on-line here: Hy-Vee :: Weekly Specials

    Here's what I see:
~ Bartlett Pears @ $0.88 (I always buy whatever is less than $1/lb. We always have fresh fruit--and we get a variety!)
    ~ Dole Celery stalk = $0.88
~ Chicken leg quarters @ $0.59/lb (They often go on sale at this price, but I've never seen them lower.)
    ~ Hy-Vee Butter = $1.99 (Whenever it goes under $2 I pick up a couple pounds.)

Meh, do I give up on Hy-Vee?

I shop Hy Vee merely because it is the closest to me. I don't, as a general rule, find some "good" deals. Fair maybe, good no. I am still pulling up the current ad for now, so no idea if anything is gonna pop out at me. Leg qtrs, I generally buy in a 10 lb bag, have seen as cheap as 39 cents, but not for a long time, but recently for 49/lb. I was hoping w/ Labor day to see some good meat specials.

nothing really popped out at me. I used to shop HyVee all the time but over the last few months haven't been there much. I have Cashwise Foods that has been having some good sales.

Yeah, I was disappointed, but then I was really disappointed when I realized this is the Labor Day weekend. Were are the sales? :shrug7:

Celery was 59 cents per stalk at Fareway last week and 59 cents per lb. is Fareway's regular price for chicken hindquarters. Yeah, Hy-Vee kinda stinks lately! Do you have a Fareway near you? I would buy some butter at that price, though! My Hy-Vee does usually come out with some extra sales flyers throughout the week, though, and they tend to be better than the regular sales flyer.

This weeks ad is pretty lame... butter for 1.99, HyVee brand peanuts 2/3 and salad mixes 3/4 were the only things that jumped out to me.

This past monday only specials this week were pretty good.... I just have plenty of Miracle whip and kraft salad dressings in the pantry.

I normally fill the front of a recipe card with the specials from the six grocery stores I occasionally shop. There is a lot of white on it this week. I don't think its just a HyVee thing....

The sugar jumped out at me to buy. Anyone confirm this is a good deal? I haven't bought sugar in a while, stocked up last time it was 99¢, so not sure what the going rate was, just knew it was expensive.

I was thinking that once I got the actual ad in the mail (Tuesday), I'd find something new. I don't know about you, but flipping through real live pages usually gives me more ideas than looking at it on the screen.

Also when the ad comes in the mail it has an extra page around it--usually for a one-day or three-day sale. And I get the Tueday paper from my mom which has a full page ad and usually a couple "Super Coupons."

    Well, sigh.

Fresh ground chuck (lb.) 4 for $10.00. -- Well that's $2.50/lb, their regular price when you the "value" pack.

This might be a good deal if somebody has some coupons to go with it. I don't.
    - Keebler or Sunshine cookies or crackers, all sizes, all varieties, no limit, 50% off.

Looks like there might be some good prices on soda, but I don't buy soda.
    Little Birdie says, "Cheap! Cheap!"

Did you know? Sometimes there are good deals at Hy-Vee!
