I've been shopping at Walmart, but I'm wanting to expand" my horizons. My only real options here are Hen House (which I think is terribly expensive), Hy-Vee and Price Chopper. I used to shop at Dillons, but they closed.

Can anyone in OP or KC give me their thoughts on which store would be best to try...any tricks...thoughts?

Thanks so much, ladies!

Hi Meredith! I'm pretty close to you, right by Johnson County Comm College, so I can give you some insight, I hope. The closest to my house is Hen House, and they can be pricey, but they do double coupons up to fitty cents, so keep that in mind! Plus, they let you preview the weekly specials on their website before the Wed paper comes out (ususally Tues night), so I can see if they have any good deals.

I work in the 119th/Roe area, so I will go to any of the above that are between work/home/the gym. Lately, Price Chopper has had some great sales (Powerade, deli meat, peanut butter), but seems like Hy-Vee has the best meat specials. I got a boston butt pork roast the size of a brontosaurus for $.99/lb. and to make enough shredded bbq pork sammiches to last until the turn of the century!

HTH!

Robyn

Hi, I'm in olathe, ks. I like to shop at hyvee for a lot my produce, they have decent sale prices and it is nice quality. Also they have a monthly health market flyer you can get in store, you'd be surprised that sometimes organic produce can be cheaper than regular when it's not on sale.
Hyvee has catalina machines which i like because sometimes you can get $ off your next order. Check the catalina sticky here in the hyvee forum for current promotions.

I live nearest to price chopper, but i don't shop there often as hyvee.

Hen house is good at times and alot of the time they unavertised sales, like i noticed the vegall steamfresh are on sale for .99 until 9/7. There ar3 q's out that make them .29 or .49 cents a bag.

All three stores give .05 bag credits when you use reusable bags.

Walmart's everyday low prices 99% of the time can be beaten by the grocery stores sales.

I use aldi's prices as a measure of a good deal. If i can get it cheaper than aldi's i know it it's a good deal.

Don't forget there is a price chopper/kc forum too!

Hilltop Hy-Vee in Mankato, Mn. Anyone at all from my town? Know there is 1 gal I'd love to meet, but not sure she is on this site. From what cashiers have told me, I could learn from her. I hear from them all the time about her hauls. Gizz

I'm not from Mankato, but about 20 miles away. When I do shop Mankato, I'll go to Cub before Hy-Vee (I shop the Hy-Vee in New Ulm).

I'll like to know more on the Hy-Vee hauls too!!
