Why Doesn't Hy-Vee Double Coupons?

Is there any reason they don't double coupons? I couldn't find any reason on their website, nor could anyone there tell me why... I would shop there more often if I knew they would double the coupons.

My Hy-Vee used to double years ago but hasn't in a long time. I guess they compete in other ways.

I always have wondered if at one time the manufacturer used to honor doubles (which is why they say Do Not Double and things like that). I know that the stores that double here, the doubling is a store discount so the store eats that part of it. So it's really an extra discount for couponers. Hy Vee, I notice, will push their sale prices on items lower than the stores that double do. So they are trying to still be competitive in the pricing, but the lower price applies to everyone, not just people with coupons.

Yeah it's just a philosophy. Again, they only get the face value back from the manufacturer (as do the doubling stores, at least in my area). What I have noticed is - when there's a good coupon/catalina combo, Hy Vee is usually the place that runs the sale on the item to make it free. The doubling stores won't match it.

That's my two cents. Though if they did doubles on Tuesdays, or anything like that, it would cause me to shop there more. I really only buy selective things there, I do the majority of my shopping elsewhere. I am wondering though... hoping... (anyone at Hy Vee Corporate reading this????) that if Kroger does away with doubles for all their chains, as is a rumor, that Hy Vee will pick up the slack. They would get a LOT of business if they did.

Most grocery stores don't double. Where I am from, no stores double other then maybe once or twice a year.
