HyVee ~ Vent: Hyvee didnt want to take a FREE coupon

Last night the local Hyvee in Iowa had a 1 day sale so went and did some shopping. Had some internet print coupons and they took those no problem other then they had the Bar S hotdogs marked at .99 and tried to tell me I wasnt getting the right ones when everything matched their ad. But anyways they pushed that thru and gave me .11 off along with my internet print coupons. Then I had a FREE coupon from Conagra I do beleive it was for ACT II popcorn up to 3.50 value. I bought a box of 6 popcorn that was 3.49. When I checked out they couldnt figure it out. He asked me where I got it(which I emailed the company and told them how I like their product and they sent me a Free popcorn coupon) and then he said they normally dont accept these unless its something like a buy one get one free item. I told him I got it right from the manufucture and how I got by sending them an email and telling them how much I liked their product. He wasnt going to accept it. I said I have used Free coupons here before from places like IBC root beer and others that I have compimented and got FREE coupons from. He said Ill do it this time but dont do it again. I said ok no problem thanks for your help. Guess I wont be shopping at this Hyvee anymore becuase theres an equally great Hyvee the same distance from my house but I was just closer at the time to this one. Just thought it was odd that he said they dont accept FREE coupons for stuff. Has anyone ever run into this before?

It's ridiculous because they get reimbursed for the full value. They aren't out anything!! I'm emailing corp on Monday to see what the deal is with this coupon crackdown.

What Hy-Vee were you at? Mine in Marion is almost always coupon friendly.

My friend has issues with 3 of her Hy-Vee's though that are just on the other side of town.

Ok this makes me nervous! I have a few of those FREE qs from like a Nabisco Superbowl thing? that expire on 5/31/2009 and I saved em in case there was a BOGO sale but I'm of course going to use em before they expire if nothing comes up in the next couple weeks. The stupid things look like IPs tho even tho the manufacturer sent em to me and I've been worried about who I could get to take them! After my issue at Walmart last week I didn't want to go there, and now all the IP/q issues I've read for HyVee I don't want to go there either. I hope County Market will gladly take my qs!

I was at the Davenport Iowa Hyvee on 53rd Ave. The manager was nice enough to take it but it just seemed weird because he kept asking me questions on where and how I got it. It does kinda look like an internet print one but if you look at it carefully you can tell its not because of the perferations where you fold and tear the coupon and also the coloring of the ink is alot different then what a IP would be.

I know there has been a problem with the "free" coupons here. The manager here(Osceola, IA) told me to keep everything that was sent along with the coupon or email regarding the coupons. He said they aren't trying to be difficult but those few who take advantage are making it this way.
