I think sales here are hurting in those departments. Deli and kitchen operating hours have been cut back recently.

I thought HV was probably trying to cut marketing costs by going to a smaller print ad and driving traffic to their website. But a war with Walmart is fine by me. In my area, the perception is that Walmart is cheaper...though I wouldn't say that is always the reality.
Is it the Lee & Hancock County Shopper or do ya get a different one? I know they have a different one in NE MO but I've never seen the deals in it. Walmart is cheaper...if you run out of something and don't have a q and no sales are on That's how I end up buying cat litter there..and lunchmeat...and baby Tylenol...and... This last week was probably the most I've bought in a long time at Walmart since no one had any great sales :hectic1:

I am new to couponing (6 months), so maybe I just didn't notice this before couponing, but it seems like HV is advertising specials on their store brand more, which means no using a manu Q on a sale price .

It may be I am just thinking more about what I can pair up a manu Q with .

IIRC it used to be that they had a flyer every Friday (local promo) with about a dozen really good 1 day sale prices on a combination of store brand and name brand items. Recently those sales have been primarily on the store brand items only.

I completely argree! Stores in general I think are promoting more of their own brand. I've also noticed that store brands are now costing what the name brand used to before grocery costs got rediculous.

I miss those store specific ads. I don't think Burlington does them or I don't remember seeing any recently. I remember the Keokuk ones and they often had better deals than corporate. I now I have a blog I can read to find out about the Mt. Pleasant deals when I'm in town. I made a County Market stop before heading home on Easter and had a half of cart full of stuff I really didn't need, but the prices were good.
