HyVee ~ Question KC Metro 10% off total purchase

I received the weekly flyer for Hy-Vee today and on the front was a coupon for 10% off total grocery purchase. Here is the fine print:

"Cannot be combined with additional discount or coupon offer. *Excludes All Gift Cards, Fuel and Prescription Purchases, Delivered Grocery Orders, Lottery, Money Orders or Postage Stamps." 1 per customer, yada, yada... Minimum $50.00 Purchase.

So here's the question. If it cannot be combined with coupon offer, does that mean that you can't use coupons at all? That's the way I'm reading it.

No, that's not the way it is intended. You can still use manufacturer's coupons. :)

The type of coupon that it cannot be combined with would be any sort of "% off" store coupon, like the 15% Sack Sales that the Health Markets do. If the Health Market happened to be having their 15% off sack sale on the same weekend as this 10% Customer Appreciation sale, you wouldn't be able to do both and get 25% off on your Health Market items.

Also, the $50 minimum purchase is before tax and before coupons.

And although the coupon doesn't exclude alcohol, it is illegal to discount alcohol in this way so alcohol is excluded also.
