I found 9" all occasion plates for $2.38 for 44ct. I bought 3 and used 3 $1/2 coupons for oop of $1.14 (+0.32). I earned a $3 ONYO, for a profit of $1.54. Oh, and I need plates anyway.

I don't know. I only had the three $2/1 coupons. If I had had six (or eight) of them I still wouldn't have tried rolling. I do a fair bit of shopping at Hy-Vee; I wouldn't have trouble spending a bunch of ONYOs.

If someone had a huge stack of $2/1 coupons, I could see wanting to roll them to keep the OOP down and avoid collecting a huge stack of ONYOs. If such a person wants to try and then let us know...

I've got about 15 of these $2/1 coupons. I'm going to try use them, but I don't understand what you're talking about in regards to rolling. Please advise. :)

ETA: Nevermind. I read the OP and figured it out. Off to HyVee to buy plates for the entire summer! I will let you know about the rolling.

I live in Independence and I went to both our Hyvee's. Bought one package just to see if it would work and I didn't get a CAtalina at either store.

Rolling is like lilcp described.
Transaction 1: Buy the items and earn a Catalina.
Transaction 2: Buy the items, use the first Catalina to pay, and (maybe) earn another Catalina.
Transaction 3: repeat transaction 2 over and over.

Sometimes the machines are programed to prevent rolling; that is, the system detects that you paid with a Catalina from this over and does not issue a new one.

Really the only way to find out if it rolls or not is for someone to try that. I'm not that brave. If it doesn't work, you are out the Cat you could have earned in trans 2.

If someone does try it and reports back that it works, here's the advantage:

Hypothetical Scenario

Jane's store has Heavy Duty Plates for $2.50 and Jane has 15 coupons.

Without rolling...
Transaction #1:
4 packages @ $2.50 = $10.00
4 coupons @ $2.00 = -$8.00
OOP = $2.00 (+tax)
Earn $4 OYNO
-----------------
Transaction #2:
4 packages @ $2.50 = $10.00
4 coupons @ $2.00 = -$8.00
OOP = $2.00 (+tax)
Earn $4 OYNO
-----------------
Transaction #3:
4 packages @ $2.50 = $10.00
4 coupons @ $2.00 = -$8.00
OOP = $2.00 (+tax)
Earn $4 OYNO

3 packages @ $2.50 = $7.50
