HyVee ~ Other: Reusable Shopping Bags - Get $ Back

At my Hy Vee if you take in ANY reuseable shopping bag you get a $.05 discount per bag you bring in.

Doesn't matter if it's Hy Vee, Wal Mart, Kroger, or any other store.

So, after 20 shopping trips they start making you money (they cost $1 every where here)

or just use any old bag you have around the house and start making $$ now :) they will also give the discount if you bring in paper or plastic bags, like from your last grocery trip. i always bring tons of bags and they are really good abut giving me the $0.05 regardless of how many they actually use. you do have to make sure they give you the refund though, sometimes i get mine in cash when they forget.

I did the carside drive up bc my knee is killing me today. The guy was asking if the other store offered it (I was using another store's bags). I told him I didn't know Hy Vee did that. Checked the recipt and it was on there.

fyi they have ALWAYS had this policy if you bring in your old bags be it plastic, paper. or whatever. has always been a special button for the credit. similar to the buttn they use to take the weight of the plastic sac off produce

My hyvee posted a notice that as of May 1st, they are discontinuing this policy. They said since reusable bags are so popular now, they will no longer give the $.05 discount. :frown:

So far our Hy-Vee is still giving the 5c discount. Hopefully they keep it up. My husband and I are pretty diligent in bringing in our bags.

I'm a checker at HyVee. The going rate at ours is that you receive $.05 per paper or cloth bag you bring in and $.03 per plastic bag. Most customers are surprised they get credit, but I always make sure they do, even if they don't ask. It's a nice little surprise when they look at their receipt.
