Default Re: Laundry ~ Tips & Tricks

I have a couple of tips. I make my own detergent using a box of washing soda (found in korger near the laundry stuff) Borax (also found with washing soda) I don't bother with mixing in the bar of soap, and clothes still get clean. I have also started when I find a good deal adding in a cup or so of powdered detergent just for the scent.

If you use epsom salt in the wash just a tablespoon you can use less than 1 oz of detergent. It softens the water and lets the soap work better. I often just mix some in with my home made powder.

Default Do you know about wrinkle releaser?

Thought I would share this as it it something I use all the time and it seems to be a product most folks don't know about! DG has a product called "Wrinkle Releaser" which I am sure is available under different names in different places. Basically, you just spray it on wrinkled clothes and strech or smooth the wrinkles out...esp cotton shirts and jeans! Goodbye ironing! About $1.50 for a bottle the size of febreeze. One of the best products I have ever discovered! Hope this helps my friends all over this board!!!!

I love that stuff too! I bought a bottle (downy brand) for $1.50 @ Big Lots over the summer. DH is like you iron so good. Little does he know....LOL

I took a bottle on a cruise - really helped since you cannot iron there.

I purchase fabric refresher from the dollar tree and it does the same thing as the downy wrinkle releaser and it's only a buck.

If you get good deals on things like Downy or Snuggle, you can make your own wrinkle releaser/fabric refresher stuff for pennies. Just a splash or two in a spray bottle filled with water works just as well. You can also use it to de-static your hair.

I agree with this 100%! I use it all the time for stains. Just rub a little on and throw it in the wash. Better than any pre treater I have ever tried.

Another helpful tip is hairspray to get out ink. I just saturate the area till the ink starts to bleed, then throw it in the wash.

This does work well. Just make sure it's not the gel type ink. If it's the gel kind then hairspray will set it in. You should use dish soap on the gel type ink.
