How do you get the grout lines clean without getting on hands and knees and scrubbing? I have one of those steam mop things and that doesn work, only other thing I have found is to take a small portable steamer and steam the grout lines individually, but with a kitchen that has more than 300 sq. feet of tile in it, I cant do that too often.

Default Tips for Cleaning/Caring for Wood Floors

I have all wood floors in my house and am unsure as to how to clean them. I have read no mop and water, which is what I am used to using so how do I care for them? A neighbor let me borrow her Shark steam mop , but I feel like it took off some of the shine. The previous owners left me a bottle of SC Johnson One Step No BUff Wax. I have used this but am not sure if it is for everyday/once a week cleaning? I have 2 little boys so I need a way to keep our floors clean without spending 1 hour on my hands and knees with the Johnson stuff.
Any ideas, tips, do no do this, tried and true methods will be much appreciated. Thanks
    from Texas

A little vinegar and water is what I use - but I do them on hands and knees and wash,, then dry in little segments - they do look amazing when done.....I have (in between times) used a spray bottle with the vinegar and water, spray, mop, then use another mop to dry - that actually worked ok....hth I'll be anxious to see if there are other posts - I dread this chore:|

Vinegar and water is what I use too. I have wood floors in my whole house so this is a chore I dread once a week too but it sure does look pretty when it's done!

Vinegar & water is what I use also for most of my clients..but, one client has a Bruce hardwood kit that is GREAT, it's a spray on then a special microfiber type of mop set, I think she got it at home depot or lowes.

I use the Bona hardwood floor care system. They sell at Lowe's, Home Depot, and Bed, Bath and Beyond.

I use my shark steam cleaner on it and I haven't noticed any dullness at all. In between I just spot wipe with a damp cloth. No kids or pets here so that defineatley helps
I have multiples of each weeks inserts. PM me for easy trades. I just might have what your needing.

I use the Bruce hardwood cleaner too...love it! I don't have the kit, I just buy the spray cleaner from Home Depot. I first sweep the floor (to get rid of any sand or larger particles that may be on the floor) and then spray with the Bruce cleaner little sections at a time, using my Swiffer sweeper (with the dry cloth attached at the end) to wipe it off. Leaves a great shine and I always get compliments on my wood floor ( make that 'used to get'.......now that my 2 yr. old dd has worked her magic on it, I don't get so many compliments any more.....I wonder why! )
