HELP Getting an odor out . . .

I have a horrible odor in my washing machine - because someone threw up in it!!!!!!!

Any suggestions for getting the odor out?

I have run 2 regular cycles with detergent and now 2 heavy duty cycles with bleach and there still is somewhat of an odor.

What can I do to get the odor out so I can wash clothes and not have puke smell on them???

Any and all suggestions are appreciated!! :hectic1:

    I agree with the vinegar.

Also, maybe some sort of detergent that is enzymatic against proteins? You know, whatever people use to wash poopy diapers. That may help break up any loose food particles.

Depending on the type of washer you have, maybe it got over the drum and is kindof on the inside. If you can, take the housing off and check. Sometimes my washer's water spray, bouces off the clothes and over the edge. I have a regular top loader. Hope you can get it out.

If you don't have the directions on how to do that, like I did, write down the make and model and other info and look online for an instruction manual (user's guide). I found a bunch of manuals in pdf I really needed.

Ok, after I stopped laughing thinking "what are the circumstances that someone would vomit in a washer?" Yea, I'm sorry I'm laughing, but I really do feel for ya.
I agree with Brea...it could have splattered somewhere that you can't reach.
Last year I had my washer taken apart and I was amazed that they didn't have to pull the washer out. Two screws on top of my washer removed the front of the instrument panel, and then two pops to levers on each side and the guy pulled the entire metal front and sides off in one piece and set it aside. You could see the entire inside of the washer.

Is it a front loader? Mine has a plug on the front that catches stuff(yeah gross) but I have to clean that out every so often it gets smelly. My mom said hers was smelly and she had to do the dame thing. It worked wonders.

try running a load with some washing soda and borax with your soap....the washing soda i use with the borax does an amazing job of getting stank out of stuff....I also use a lil bit of my own laundry soap to.

I can vouch for vinegar working wonders. Pine-Sol helps take the mildew smell out of clothes and the machine, when clothes are left in, overnight. You may want to try that too.
Wah...My washer doesn't have a filter or pluggie thing, like mentioned in the above posts. Wish it did.
