When I worked at a conveinence store and the beer guys would ductape signs the the glass doors on the cooler I would just use 409 spray and then a razor blade to scrape off the goo. It worked well and never damaged the glass.
If your windows are tinted I'd be afraid of scraping the tint off but if not I would think it would work fine.

WD-40 works to take off glue and sticky residue. I have used it on the underside of glass bottoms after removing the price stickers. It shouldn't harm the windshield.

thanks, yall, I had the bright idea of duct taping two window shades together for your windshield for the summer to help keep our car cooler and some how the sun pulled the duct tape apart and it got on the windshield and I did not notice the residue untill it was too late, I know I know not too smart.
Thanks!
I have used 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. My son decided to draw pictures and hang them on his window in the van with duct tape. It worked well with minimum effort.

I use shop towels that smell like oranges. The stuff that garages use to get grease off of their hands. I SWEAR by that stuff for EVERYTHING!!

Yep...like saversavory said, anything with alcohol. Hand sanitizer works really well to get rid of the goop.
I used to work in a call center and there was always something "icky" on the desk or the pc monitor. I used hand sanitizer and a paper towel. All the "ick" disappeared and everything was sparkling!!
