SHAMPOO - Does it really matter?
I've used many shampoos in my life but don't seem to notice any difference between cheap ones and expensive ones.
My hair is not permed or colored and is thick, healthy and undamaged. I also don't blow dry it and only occasionally use hot rollers and/or a curling iron.
Do you really notice a difference between brands?

My stylists don't like the retail brands - there is too much wax in them and that is what makes your hair silky after you wash. Pantene is supposedly (according to one stylist) the worst offender. I happens to be my favorite shampoo! I told the stylist I like my wax hair!! She didn't like that but suggested I use a clarifier once a week to get rid of the build up… So far no real difference after clarifier, so… I don't know how much of this is true.

my husband loves pantene LOL
I watched a show...with one of those celebrity hair dressers...accent long straight hair....anywho he said to wash your hair only every other day...but to still condition it each day.
I had always ignored the advice of only washing every other day because i have long curly hair and it gets so unmanageable to completely skip and not condition....but I've tried to do as he suggests...and still condition and it really does help..and my hair wasn't dirtier ect
Not doing it currently because I keep having to spray deet in my hair...blech..I hate mosquitoes...but as soon as summer raps up...I'll go back to every other day.
P.S. I use garnier LOL

When the lady that cuts our hair heard the brand I use she said she could wax her floors with it. I just don't see a difference.

Re: SHAMPOO - Does it really matter?
I have short hair, but it's really thick. I wash and condition every day. I just don't like the way my hair looks if I don't. That said...I've used just about every kind of shampoo. I honestly can't tell a diffference. I do try to use one of the better conditioners if I'm using a really cheap shampoo, though. But that's just because of my unruly hair!
A few years ago, I was getting my hair cut at one of the walk in places. The stylist was acting like it was a top dollar salon, telling me about all of the training she had, and she was an "expert" in coloring hair. She went on and on about the brand of shampoos that they carried, and how I "needed" to buy it, because the stuff in the stores is soooooo bad for your hair. I waited until she was done cutting to say what I wanted to say(never talk bad to someone with scissors!!). As I was paying, she asked which shampoo I wanted to get. I told her, "I'm getting my hair cut at a walk-in salon on Ten Dollar Tuesday. Do you really think I'm going to pay $20 for shampoo????"

I use just about every brand of shampoo too and have not noticed a difference between the higher priced brands vs. the lower priced ones. My hair is straight and fine. Whatever is on sale that week works for me. I wash and condition every other day.

The more expensive ones make my curly hair frizzier and less weighed down.
I don't mind cheap waxy shampoo.... I put wax in my hair anyways! The waxier the curls the less often I have to wash...

Re: SHAMPOO - Does it really matter?
I most definately notice a difference! My hair is very long (almost to my butt) and is real thick. If I use cheap shampoos like suave, V05 or anything like that, when I get out of the shower I can't even brush my hair, it just knots up. I have used EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING on the market and oddly enough, Dove Shampoo & Conditioners work best for me. It makes my hair the most manageable. Even when my fiance had his hair long, I found the same with him, the cheap brands made his hair all frizzy and flyaway (he has naturally curly hair).

Re: SHAMPOO - Does it really matter?
I don't use the "cheap" shampoos like VO5, Suave, White Rain, but I do use L'Oreal Vive, Dove, Herbal Essence..etc. I've noticed though that the shampoo doesn't make as much a difference as the conditioner. I have to have a thicker conditioner, or it won't go through my curly hair. I even purchased the Repure conditioner, and that stuff was too thin for my hair. I don't brush my hair, so the run through with my fingers when I condition or apply mousse is all it gets.
