Need pigeon help

we live right by a school and there are hundreds of pigeons around there. We have them camping on our roof, making nests and causing havoc around here. our neighbors dont seem to have the same problem we do with nests and droppings everywhere. I have seen a few home that have old cds and soda/beer cans hanging from the trees. Does this work? or are they just being festive. We have used chicken wire on the places they make there nests. but they still seem to be comming back and pooping all over the place. Please help me.

I have heard two things: a hawk as a pet, probably not an option, and also a recording of a hawk's scream. I heard of one being on top of Moody Church in Chicago...they made a roof top lounge area and needed the pigeons off so a recording goes off every two minutes (that's how long a pigeon remembers) and they stay away. I have no idea if you could search the net for a recording and be able to put it in an attic or if this in anyway is possible, but it does work. I hope you can find a solution.
