What do you'all use? I have an HP but it just sucks up the ink and hp ink is expensive. I am not printing pictures, just normal day stuff.

I have a Brother printer that I bought the generic version at Home Depot. The price is about half of what the name brand is and it works fine. I don't think the other office supplies have generic cartridges, but Target does for about the same price as Home Depot's. I have not tried theirs and I think that you can only get them on line.
When I ordered this online for Home Depot there is no charge to p/u @ local store. I also was able to use a coupon code for 10% off and get credit by joining their Rewards program. They take empty cartridges for credit, but I am not sure if it is all kinds and what they give for them.

I too have a brother printer, and while the brother brand ink for it is reasonable (not as bad as our old HP one) I get my ink cartridges re-filled at my local Cartridge World. I pay only $7.50 for the black cartridge and $3.50 for the color ones (there are 3). I pay only $18 for all of them when we used to pay $45 just for 1 HP color ink cartridge.

You can find your local cartridge world on their website probably.
I think Walgreens also does ink cartridge refills as well.

btw, we have been doing this ever since we bought our printer 2 years ago and NEVER had a problem. Our cartridge world even gives a free warranty on their cartridges. If they leak in the printer they will have the printer cleaned for free.

I have a HP. Takes hp60. Found a local cartridge world store, refills are $9 black, $11 (maybe 12) for color. Walgreens won't refill hp60 here.

Palo Alto (CA) - Simply refilling your ink cartridges at one of the increasingly popular "refilling service stations" in retail stores is a cheaper alternative to buying actual replacement cartridges. However, HP today announced that it has "discovered" patent infringements by Walgreens and Office Max and is working with the companies to "resolve" the issue.

From an article earlier this month

I use an HP I believe the ink is 56&57 (I may be one number off). My ink is cheap, and lasts a long time it seems. Our old printer just broke(DH brok it of course) . So we just bought a "used" one on amazon that takes the same ink since i've stockpiled ink when it was on sale and I had a GC.

stop using ink! Inkjet printers are such ink hogs. Instead, invest in a laser printer that uses toner. I buy the high capacity toner refills from Meritline.com for about $20 and it lasts me LITERALLY a year. Before I made the switch I was going through injet cartridges about once a month (from printing so many coupons) and it almost wasn't worth the cost of the ink to save at the grocery store.

I agree about the laser printer. We had an HP laser that would last a year on a 25.00 toner cartridge.
But we needed color, so we just bought a Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901. B/W Cartridge refills are 4.99 and they print approx. 500 pages.
    That's a penny a page!
Color is more, but still reasonable.

So far I'm very happy with it!
