HELP Invisalign Braces - Anyone have feedback?

I am about to spend some major bucks on my daughter's teeth. She wants Invisalign instead of braces.

Does anyone have any experience, feedback, ideas, coupons for them lol...

I also heard they wear them for less time than traditional braces. :shrug7:

TIA to anyone who can help us make a decision.

Hey ....Join the club on the major bucks, we don't have them yet but I am taking him in next week to see what exactly we need to do to get my 15 year old into invisalign...I have talked to the Orthodontist already about it since my 12 year old is already going with his braces...but I can tell you what he said to me..Our Ortho said that depending on the kid and the maturity of the child he would go for the Invisalign and just play it by ear....If they do not do what they need to get the teeth straight (since they do need to wear them 23 hours a day) he said that he would go right ahead and put the original braces on because if the parents pay the money he is going to get the teeth straight regardless!

He did say that Invisalign will run about the same as the original braces so monetary wise it is comparable. HTH

invis will only work if they have mild to light moderate crowding... won't work for more moderate to severe crowding. It's really limited in what it can do and it's 90%up to how much the patient will wear it. We had MUCH more luck with adults than vs kids.

A lot of the time, you have to still wear braces in the end for 4-6 months to fix small corrections that the invisalign system couldn't do.

I worked in 2 offices, it was always more expensive than regular braces.

I went to the dentist 2 months ago for a cleaning. I had original braces and they worked great...but I didn't wear my retainer and two of my teeth shifted. When I talked to him about it, he said they could put in a cement fixed retainer...but he advised me to not use the Invisalign-for a mild shift. He said he hadn't seen much positive correction from patients who had Invisalign. He told me they were more of a waste of time and he never recommended it.

My hubsband had traditional braces when he was younger. But he had one of his bottom teeth that shifted and he wanted to get it fixed before our wedding. His worked great but most likely because he was older and it wasn't that big of a fix. Couple things I did notice though. If you want them because they are less noticable than traditional braces, think again. My husband only had it on the bottom and you could tell he was wearing something...they are not as un-noticable as people think. Also, if you grind your teeth...not worth it. My husband would bite through them with ease and we would just have to replace them sooner.
But, overall, they worked great. That one little tooth is back where it belongs.

There is a young man in scouts with my sons who has them he takes them out whenever he can get away with it. I asked him why he wanted them he said he didn't think they would hurt this much. I guess because of the rate at which the teeth are moving he is in constant pain whereas my son is only in a light to moderate discomfort right after his traditional braces are tightened.

I had regular braces when I was younger. As I have gotten older my teeth have shifted. So about 5 years ago I did invisalign. Because it was less noticeable and I could remove them if I had a special event to go to. They worked great. I strongly suggest a permanent lower retainer when your finished with them. I to this day still wear a removeable upper retainer @ night. (by choice) And have a permanent on the bottom.

I had the regular braces a few years ago all three of us my son and daughter... and myself kind of funny. The regular worked fine but I would have loved the invasalign but prices was quite high as they were not long out then. I do feel that you need to wear the retainer afterward too as I can see that both my kids who do not wear their retainer their teeth have moved. Mine have moved a little but they helped a lot. Good luck whatever you decide.

Quite honestly I would get regular braces for your child but if price is not an option try the invasaline.. I see from paying over $9,500 for just both kids without myself (I got discount as it was 3) they need more work from not wearing retainer afterward. Do not get it done too young one of my mistakes and insist on wearing retainer whatever you decide.

I had braces for three almost four years. Being that im 23 years old it wasn't so long ago that I had braces. invisline had just come out when i was getting my braces off. I had the invisline for about a year after i had my braces off. They really are mainly just used for the light overcrowding of teeth. since i only needed a little bit of straigtening i got these at the end. Honestly I would get the traditional ones for your child because the likelyhood that they will keep them on 23 hrs a day is very rare. Braces hurt and it will be a temptation to take it out.

My DH has invisalign and they are working very fast. We're so happy with the results so far. The one thing he did mention was that if he'd gotten them as a kid, he would not have been able to care for them the way you are supposed to. They require much more work than regular braces. He has to fully brush and floss and rinse immediately after every meal, and also brush the invisalign to keep them clean. I had regular braces as a kid and was nowhere near as good with dental hygiene as he has to be.
