    Laundry question

I am looking for something or process that will take the white deodorant buildup off the underarm area of my DH work t-shirts. I swear he must put it on the t-shirt and not the armpit! I have tried stain removers, pre-treaters, vinegar, peroxide, oxygen cleaners and even Nature's Miracle. I have brushed with all my might, set in the sun and only can get a small amount to release from the fabric. I realize I should have been putting something on it from the beginning when they were new. Sometimes laundry just gets done without a second thought. I always use cold water as the shirts are a dark blue. We have well water and a water softner. Now they are hard and the buildup just doesn't want to release. Anyone else have this problem or any luck in either eliminating the buildup or at least reducing it so it isn't hard? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

    Got the same problem...
    Never found anything that works...
Always wear a colored (sometimes white) T-shirt under other shirt...Always.

DW got 10 colored T-Shirts from the Kmart/Fruit of the Loom promo for free.
$10 Rebate allows 2 per household of 5 purchases of T-shirts. T-shirts were individual pack for $2 each.

I have found something that works wonders on my husbands work clothes...Lestoil..I add detergent and shout color catcher(I use half a sheet in every load of laundry I do) and then I add about 1/4 cup of lestoil. Let the washer fill up and begin to aggitate, then I stop the machine and let it sit for about an hour...start the washer back up. My husbands work uniform consists of a yellow shirt, which shows every stain including underarm. I have had good luck with this. My MIL shared this great laundry secret with me, she can get any stain out of anything!
PS we have well water and culligan water softening system too, and I always wash in cold water

Thanks, nosymom. I remember now that my mom used to use Lestoil on my dad's work clothes. I had forgotten about it. After you wrote about that I also remembered that in the past I have used Castroil Super Clean (we fondly refer to it as purple poop) on my DH greasy work clothes. I'll have to get the Lestoil and more purple poop and give those a try. Wonder if CVS has it so I can use my ECB's on them LOL!

    Default Laundry Tips

my washing machine!!!!!!! DH had full gas cans in the back of his car and as he pulled in the vents splashed a bit onto a blanket back there and it got on his clothes when he picked them up. I've run the stuff three times and they still STINK and are NOW in the dryer smell and all! NOW my washer still reaks--- its running empty with detergent and baking soda!

Bleach, lemon juice, or apple vinegar would be my suggestion. I think it's just going to take some time though to get it out. You might have to go a few times.

For the dryer, I would suggest soaking a white towel in a bleach solution (bleach and water), then ring it out so it is heavy wet, which will take awhile to dry. Run the dryer and stuff a handful of dryer sheets in there with it. That will help the smell in the dryer.

just a safety caution, it is recommended to never dry anything in a dryer that has gasoline, oil, chemicals on it because it apparently is never totally removed in the wash and can cause a fire in the dryer under certain conditions. Hasn't stopped me yet, but just want to make sure you've checked your lint filters and vent tubing so it doesn't overheat and become dangerous.

On the bleach solution, I would recommend 1 capful bleach to 1 gallon water. Forgot to mention that.
