Default Need tip for white residue on my cast iron skillet

I know the basics of taking care of cast iron (no soap, careful of temperature changes, etc). So I've been just using hot water and elbow grease to get my cast iron pans clean...but last night after I was done the skillet was covered in white residue and my elbow grease isn't working . Any tips?

Sounds like it might need re-seasoned. I acquired some cast iron that had that white look and I re-seasoned them and they have been fine since.
    Good luck!
