CHAT Vinegar to do the Laundry?

Hi, I am reading about this and it fascinates me, how people are using vinegar to do the laundry. So I came here to get answers from you smart people. This is all new to me. How do you use it? When do you put it in? Doesn't it leave a smell? Any answers would be great, Thanks

White vinegar is a fabric softener. You put it in your fabric softener dispenser or when you normally would place fabric softener during the wash cycle. You only need a 1/4 cup per load. No smell because it is diluted in the water.

I just recently started using white vinegar to do laundry. It is great for removing mildew, if you 'discover' a pile of wet clothes, no one told you about.
    Just use your regular detergent.

heck, its way cheaper than Downy and other fabric softeners. We have a Neptune front load and I just pour into the softener tray.

I do find a lot more lint in the dryer trap.

I have a front load washer, and I actually use vinegar and softener. I put vinegar in the bleach compartment, it helps get smells out of clothes, and keeps the washer from soap build-up.

I used distilled vinegar in a load recently to remove cat urine stench from one of my son's backpacks. Mine's a top loading machine, I too added it through the bleach trap.

I agree, I've been using vinegar for 2 years now as a fabric softener and love it. No more musty towels or anything. Between that and the homemade laundry soap, I hardly spend anything on laundry. I have a top loader and put it right in the fabric softener compartment.

I use vinegar to remove all of the sweat stains from my husband's work clothes. Works fabulous! I just toss in a cup full and it works!
