    FYI-I don't think you are supposed to use drain cleaner with a garbage disposal. I have always used lemon,ice and salt-this will get your coffee pot sparkling too!

    I also suggest the citrus peels. I will stuff them in ours about once a month just to keep it smelling fresh. It even helps sharpen the blades too.

    The professional cleaner is specifically used for garbage disposals. No problems for machine or drains.

    I got a sample of that Disposer Care stuff once. It works great, and might be worth the money if you can't get rid of it any other way.

    I've used the Disposer care- it's about $4 for a 3 pack and well worth it.

    I don't know if our disposer is really really old, but when I tried citrus peels I cut them in 1/8ths and they just wouldn't grind at ALL. They just stayed whole in the bottom of the disposer! Like the disposer was just tossing them around but not chopping them up...
