We knew we had one in the garage earlier this year and it ran across my foot while I was processing Sunday newspapers. I freaked in a very calm manner.
I am freaking a little so this is just a random post to try and calm down - LOL
I knew we had a mouse, I have found "evidence" it has left as well as food that has been gnawed on - yuck!
But I just SAW it!!!
We have put out traps so I left it alone as it was near one. Besides, I am way to chicken to actually DO anything to it anyway.
So I am back on here now trying to stay calm and hope that it goes into the trap and DH can deal with it when he gets home this evening.

I am stalking the mouse or mice that have invaded my garage.
So far he's ignored the sticky traps and baited traps. I am going for poison this time.

I had one a few years ago that was living in my vacuum canister bag. I kept having to replace them, as he would chew a hole in it to get in. I finally decided to put a trap inside the vacuum. It worked. The worst part is getting rid of it once it's in the trap. Yuck! Good luck getting the little bugger!
No sweat. I deal with this a lot. The cats bring "toys" in to show off and entertain themselves with, and I wind up grabbing them with a set of tongs (that are for that purpose only) and throwing them back out.
Plus, one of the buildings I clean has them, since its out in the country. They have sticky pads out and when I find one, I get a garbage bag and put over my hand and pick the whole thing up by the very edge and turn the bag inside out over it. Tie it up and chuck into the dumpster.
Yeah, they can gross you out, freak you out, and make you scream and cry. After the first one it gets easier.
Nasty little things spread disease and germs and ruin your food, house, and peace of mind. Don't feel sorry for them, get mad, go to war. Where you see one, count 10 that you don't see. Fight back, its your house.
I know how you feel. Since it's cooled down, we've had a mouse visitor in our laundry room, & it's left little presents for me. My dh went to go get his work clothes 1 morning & it was running around & scared him. We set out some poison, guess it ate some because I haven't seen any poo lately.
When we moved here 5yrs ago, the house had been empty because the seller had been fixing it up for a year. The garage was full of mice, never saw any evidence in the house. No joke, for the next 3 weeks, there were days we caught 2-3 mice every day. We'd hear a trap snap & dh would go running out & see what he caught.
Isn't wildlife great?
Mice are so incredibly gross. And I'm terrified of them. If I knew there was one in the house, I'd have my butt out the door quick. Thankfully, we don't have a mouse problem since it's hot here most of the time in Florida.
But we do have to deal with giant bugs in the house. The other day, I killed the biggest spider I've ever seen in my life. As a pp said, I freaked out calmly. DH was surprised I even got close enough to kill it. I don't want that thing loose in my house! I want to keep my eye on it and then splatter it on the floor with a shoe. *shudders*
Does anyone remember the story of Bzybee and the mouse? That's what I keep thinking of to make me laugh!
I have to go out and run some errands, I am not looking any more until after I get home.

Oh big hugs coming your way.
I hope for you that it makes its way into the trap so you don't have to think about it again. And if the trap is within your sight, it's ok to somehow put a paper towel or something over it so you don't have to look at it, although *shudders* that might mean you getting too close to it. It's also ok to ask your neighbor to come on over and take the full trap outside too.![]()

Oh - I am so sorry for you. We had this same problem earlier this year. I am afraid that BamaLady is correct that when you see one, there are typically more. We found 12 total and thought we only saw 1! We went to home depot and got one of those gadgets that you plug into the wall and it emits an aversive noise that bothers the mouse. It was kinda expensive $30? but it had a money back garuntee. It worked - but in working it drove them all out into the open. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! They totally creep me out - but my advice is to be aggressive when you find one and try to get them all out ASAP. Only 6 of ours were trapped with the sticky traps, one died from unknown causes in our closet!, and several were chased out of the house by our dog (who turns out is quite a mouser). It was a nightmare though - I had to throw out my entire stockpile of Quaker oatmeal (which I only recently was able to replenish) and many other things. Plus they ate several holes in our drywall, which we had to fix. We had an exterminator out twice, laid traps, and got the noise maker - plus we safeguarded all the food in tupperware and took other precautions.
I hope you get rid of your little pest soon.
