Default Updated - We got him!! A mole is taking over my lawn & is having fun torturing me!

I think my psycho mole is laughing at me as I write this ...

We have at least one mole taking over our lawn. We like having a green, well taken care of lawn. Enter: Psycho Mole. We've read that moles like well-watered lawns as they eat worms. This year, we have a mole who has managed to make tunnels throughout our lawn, stopping short of neighbors on both sides of us. You can literally draw the property line with this guy's tunnels. This morning he sent me over the edge. He managed to dig a tunnel from the side of the house to the street and dug the width of our property until reaching our driveway.

We've tried the mole spray, the ultrasonic beeper (we have 2 of them), the traps, gum, flooding the tunnels; everything short of torching them out. Today, I bought a box of moth balls. I read that they don't like the smell of these (and neither do I). Tonight, I went out to check and the mole continued to dig past my moth balls and in an "in your face" move, tossed my moth balls on top of the mound and moved on! (He's ; I'm :hectic1:) There are about 25 moth balls sitting on mounds. Sooooooo, I guess moth balls don't work!!!

Any ideas of how to KILL this pest? Help!!

I had a problem with one a few years back and what I did was dump a container of red pepper (cayenne) into his tunnel, they hate pepper as it gets in their nose and they can't breathe, he took off and never came back. HTH, if it doesn't you may want to get one of those "humane" traps and catch him and release him in a forest preserve. Be careful though, they are out of the rodent family and you don't want to get bit trying to get rid of him.

Thanks for the suggestion. I dumped a whole bunch of cayenne pepper down the end of the hole and my fire-breathing mole just kept going! :hectic1:

Moles like to dig where they have plenty of food sources (obviously). Your lawn is most likely loaded with worms and grubs, a moles favorite diet. Get some grub killer. Its sold at most hardware stores and just add it to the lawn, similar to fertilizing.

Thanks! We did an application a couple years ago and had some luck with that. We'll have to try that this weekend. Seems like the cayenne pepper might be working too. I haven't seen any new tunnels in a couple days! It does feel like a Tom and Jerry episode!

When we first moved in our non cat owning neighbors were less then pleased that my cat made thrie yard part of his daily rounds. Until about 6 months later when they commented they don't have a mole problem anymore.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but in alphabetical order, as it should be.

We've waged a full blown war on this/these guys. They have officially hit every corner of our property and did dances in the middle too. Today, we watered an area to try to get it back to normal. My husband was just standing on our deck and saw the ground move in that area. He jumped off the deck and stomped on the tunnel. You won't believe it, but he killed a mole! He grabbed a pitchfork and pulled it out. (Awww ... my mole killing hero.) One down, hopefully none to go!!!!!
