Well, I can say that its worries me a little, but not a lot. I dont have any in my house currently but that doesnt mean I wont use them. I cant remember the last time I broke a lightbulb.
So I am sure eventually I'll use them, I'll be careful with them, and I wont throw them in the trash.
But FYI- the amt of mercury in them really not high @ all.
Also- there is so much mercury in things in every day life that ppl dont even realize..and yet they are afraid of being "poisioned" by a lightbulb.
Also- YES mercury leaves your body. Even if someone was poisioned by mercury, usually they can be saved with chelation therapy. But mercury naturally (in the small doses we're all exposed to) leaves the body in your waste.
When i bought my house a few years back I needed lightbulbs. Lowes had the CFLs free after rebate. Put one in every socket and never looked back. I have many left over too, I dont expect to have to buy a lightbulb for the next 12 years or so.
But who cares, We live in a very rare civilized time in human history. Go enjoy your life and do your best to be environmentally friendly. Its all downhill from here. There are just too many people who dont care.
