Re: HHH - Help folks affected the floods in GA A quick update. We spoke with the Red Cross tonight and they say that while our efforts are great it's really not necessary.....that they have all areas covered now. We disagree since we still served about 100 sack lunches and about 75 dinners tonight. We are planning on cooking and delivering food tomorrow (Wed) and then we'll re-acess for anything after that. We have plenty of supplies for those lunches and dinners.
Going thru the neighborhoods and talking with the people most are all set for bleach and cleaning products now. A fair number are ok on personal hygiene items. Most will soon be looking to start replacing clothing, kitchen items, school supplies and general household goods. Many churches in the area are setting up "free yard sales" to flood victims..... so, if you have a pile you've been meaning to yard sale.... take it to a local church!
If you want to help and just need to know where the affected areas are, please feel free to pm me. While most are at least 1/2 way done with the initial clean up, many still need help. My assoc. pastor and youth minister went out today and helped a man clean. He had 2 special needs kids and their house was 13 ft. under water!
