Globe HHH - Help folks affected the floods in GA

One of our members missmitz has asked us if we could post about her efforts in cooking and feeding folks that have been effected by the flooding in GA.

She is wondering if any of our HCW members might be able to help out her efforts. She is needing staple type foods that she can use to to feed these families as they work to gut their homes.

She is not seeking monetary donations just stockpile items.

If you are interested in helping please contact missmitz directly through PM (Click here to send her a message)

Thank you for your consideration!

A quick update. We spoke with the Red Cross tonight and they say that while our efforts are great it's really not necessary.....that they have all areas covered now. We disagree since we still served about 100 sack lunches and about 75 dinners tonight. We are planning on cooking and delivering food tomorrow (Wed) and then we'll re-acess for anything after that. We have plenty of supplies for those lunches and dinners.

Going thru the neighborhoods and talking with the people most are all set for bleach and cleaning products now. A fair number are ok on personal hygiene items. Most will soon be looking to start replacing clothing, kitchen items, school supplies and general household goods. Many churches in the area are setting up "free yard sales" to flood victims..... so, if you have a pile you've been meaning to yard sale.... take it to a local church!

If you want to help and just need to know where the affected areas are, please feel free to pm me. While most are at least 1/2 way done with the initial clean up, many still need help. My assoc. pastor and youth minister went out today and helped a man clean. He had 2 special needs kids and their house was 13 ft. under water!

Blessings,
Mitzi

I think what you're doing is awesome! I live in Austell, GA and most of my neighborhood was flooded. Thank goodness our house was high enough that we weren't hit but there are at least 50 houses that were totally destroyed. One of my neighbors set up a tent for people to bring and pick up donations and it was both heart-warming and sad to see the people coming to pick up things that we all take for granted. I gave all I could and helped to hand out "supplies" to people. THANK YOU so much for what you're doing!
