sites like that give us ALL a bad name. Imagine being a new couponer and finding that site first. Here are savings vets telling you its OK and its how they save. No, its how they ruin couponing for the masses :(

I am glad that you noticed the difference. Not everyone does.

Of course not all deals can be had by all because sometimes a deal is legit but a YMMV based on management decisions or some stores allowing different limits to be competitive with other stores in the area etc. but we do not have to cheat the system to get amazing deals!!

I found the gals that own this site way back before HCW was born. When that site had an issue there was a few days of where to go where to go. I found one of those yucky sites too and was like what??? Then hcw was made and the rest is history, but I remember being so thankful that I didnt find that other site first!

I think they give us all a bad name, too. I still cannot post on that site, which still may be a good thing It's really no wonder why we sometimes get looks or snarky comments when using coupons.

I have tons of friends that are getting into the whole couponing thing in the past year or so thanks to that you know what show and I know that before I could tell them about HCW, a few of them found other sites to use. *sigh* Eventually though a few of them came this way due to what you are talking about. They would post things on fb about what they did/bought/used, etc and I had to (couldn't help myself) tell them that the way they are doing it is wrong. They in turn, would tell me 'but that is what so and so site said''. Uh huh. Still wrong.

I have checked out many sites since I started my hardcore couponing and still and always will, come back to this site. There are so many people now that want to coupon like those they see on tv, but they don't want to take the time to really learn all of the ins and outs of doing it properly and ethically.

Kudos to the OP for realizing that something is very wrong over at that other place. Stick w/ us, we got your back! ;-)

My first site was the other one mentioned in the original post-I heard her on our local radio. Then after being on there for about a month, somehow, I found HCW. I've checked out a few other sites, too, and only signed up for this new one so I could view their threads on a deal starting today. I always recommend HCW to those that want to start couponing. There are great forums on here, no matter where you live (except the Jewel-Osco forum LOL), great info to be found, and everyone I've encountered on here is friendly & willing to help.

I posted a status on FB that was 'Spent X, saved XX' and one of my FB friends said 'Oh, you must watch that show'. I QUICKLY corrected him & told him what a sore spot that show is for us 'real' couponers

Don't you hate when people do that to you? Drives me crazy! They do to me when I am at the supermarket b/c they see my binder and say "oh! You're like one of those extreme people, aren't you?"

I have been here since 2008 and love it! No other place is better!

#4 Is my pet peeve along with greedy couponers! A few weeks ago I was at wags trying to pick up 2 of the got2b. I saw they were completely out of every type of got2b and it was only around 12:30 on Sunday. I asked the girl at the beauty checkout if they had anymore in the back and she proceeded to tell me a "couponer" but all 48 this morning but they would restock Friday. I went back on Friday after work and they had been cleared out yet again... Now would it of hurt this shopper to leave me 2 on the shelf?

I hate seeing people post unethical things! I only come to this site for a couponing forum. But on facebook someone had asked on someones page about what to do with expired coupons and a lady said she just cuts off the date or uses them and her cashiers don't look. I had to correct that! I explained that that is not the legal way to use coupons and it is unethical and no one would ever tell someone to do that! I can't even believe they posted that they did that!!

I think the legitimate deals we get with our coupons (and a little hard work) are very generous. It is a shame people feel the need to "outsmart" the system and be greedy. I try very hard to stay within guidelines and store policies. I have occasionally made mistakes (in my favor) and have had cashiers make mistakes (not to my favor), but intentional deception is not ever my intention.

HCW is the site I use 98% of the time for coupon info. I know this is the right place for me, and I am thankful for the level of ethics show here.

Yepp I love me some HCW. I always play by the rules. Once i accidently used 2 expired coupons. I didn't even realize until I got home! I felt bad but the gas to drive all the way back out their for it wasn't worth the drive for 2 things. But usually I am on top of removing expireds and reading the fine print!

There are really only 2 coupon sites I follow- here and one other (and I've slacked off on being a participant on both over the past year). Both sites teach 'ethical' couponing & posting (though on the other site, some 'questionable' posts get past the admin but I think it's a one woman show over there).
