OK peeps. This needs to be said.

I would like to offer another perspective about couponing. Couponing is a PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT. Nowhere in the constitution, or state code sections, or fair debt collection act (you get my point) does it say that we have a right to save money. Couponers are NOT a protected status under the ADA. The coupons we get from manufacturers are a GIFT in order to get us to try their product. Sales at the stores are a GIFT to get us in the door. End of story. No one OWES us anything. We should be thankful for the deals we do get because it can and has gotten worse. Try to remember when you get frustrated (as we all do) that it is only by the generosity of the manufacturers and stores that we get these money saving deals AT ALL.

While I agree with you that we shouldn't take coupons for granted, and that we shouldn't consider them a "right" that anyone owes to us, I wouldn't go so far as to call them gifts...
The manufacturer isn't being generous, they are just looking at how they can generate more sales, get customer loyalty and ultimately increase profits.

I'm happy to accept the offers as they give them, and I don't complain when it doesn't work out the way I expect, because in reality I'm taking the benefit without actually contributing to their profits when all is said and done.

I was just saying I want to write something to this affect. Honestly I think in this day and age people think they are owed something, why not just be grateful for what you have and stop demanding what you think you deserve.

    Dear Scraps,

Give folks enough time & they'll put anything in the constitution.

Agreed. The manufacturers look at coupons as just another means of advertising. They know that not all will use them, but many will see them.

Well, at least they used to know this. Now they're rethinkin' their whole advertising stradegy because everyone IS using them. LOL!

I agree! I must wonder though, was this post initiated by a facebook giveaway? I am appalled by the comments of those "entitled" morons. I get it, that it sucks when their server is not capable of handling their coupon traffic, and that there are technical difficulties, but is that a reason to get nasty over a coupon? Seriously!? I think more about how, several of those nasty comments are left from people in the regular couponing community, who found out about the promo thru a couponing blog! WTH! It's a coupon people! The comments about "I'm on my lunch break" or "I have a life", those ones irritate me the most. ummmm ok, I don't work outside the home, and some days do have a life, but 9x out of 10, if you come back to the facebook page, the coupon will still be there for you to print...hours later!!!! maybe even days later! I try to post, whether I get the coupon at the promo time or not, on their wall, that I am grateful for the opportunity.

Ok, I'll admit it, I'm totally disappointed. I opened this thread expecting to see some real mama drama about some shouting (and maybe hitting) that took place over a Christmas gift! So disappointed.

No, I agree with pp that in the couponing game, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose-it all depends on the day. I am just thankful to be saving some money-whether it be a little or a lot.
Proud mom to an adorable two year old little boy!

Please excuse my spelling-my LO is on the loose and just learned how to climb-so I am typing as fast as I can!
