    Default Time warner cable...ugh

So I simply loved Timewarner. Because there was no contract, I could cancle if I couldn't afford it and not get penalized like with Dish network or Direct tv.

Well I simply don't like them anymore either!

I have the triple play with them.Phone, Tv, Internet. Well their rates went up again! My bill is now at $181.00 a month! Thats almost $2,400 a year!

So we have decided that we are pulling the plug on them.

We are going to do no tv service. We just want to get netflix or surfthechannel through wii/xbox. We would also watch hulu from them to? Still have to do more research, not sure how it all works.

Im looking into other internet options as well, but not sure where to go on this one. Does anyone have any suggestion?

Also I think I have found the place I want to get phone through. A place called Voice Pulse. Its like magic jack. I like this one becaue you can keep your old phone number which i need because i run a business out of my house and need this number.
Does anyone else have experience with VOICE PULSE?

So hopefully I can get everything for under $100 a month
TV- should be max $25 for netflix and Hulu
Phone-$22.00 a month through Voice Pulse
Internet?? If I stay with TW its $30-$40 a month and thats if they give me the "new customer price"

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I would love to know what others are doing and what your expereinces are with the dreaded, tv, internet, phone people!

We had the same problem with Time Warner. Luckily when we moved here, some lazy rude employee decided to tell us they don't service this neighborhood (smack dab in the middle of milwaukee!) which was a lie. We ended up with AT&T internet (dsl) since Uverse isn't available here, and Direct Tv for the tv - we use our cells as our main phones. We are very happy with our setup right now.

Our DSL is about $24 a month or so.

I was going to say I know that ATT does an internet option where you can have DSL with no phone. If uverse is available that would be even better. We had it in CA and paid like $50 a month for cable and internet and that wasn't for a promotional price, that was the price.

Your suggestion is what got me to call ATT in the first place, and I'm glad I did.

Yeah, our bill is going up by about $20 and next year it is projected to go up another $20 to the $180+ bundle. I talked to a rep what it would look like if we got rid of the home phone we never use and it would only be $7 cheaper or $84 a year.

Also, while you're shopping around, call TWC and first ask to speak to the customer retention department. We did that last year when we moved and brought our Triple Play payment down to the new customer level (of course only for 6 mo., lol). So there's an idea. If you get a snotty retention rep, though, just save yourself the headache and definitely go with someone else.

We are looking at some of the smaller cable providers in the area. It just stinks that every year or two we have to fight and threaten and maybe even leave to keep our rates at a fair price.

We have Time Warner and we pay around $170.00 a month with tax and we have home phone, high speed internet, cable, one DVR box and HBO. I want to lower our bill too. We have been thinking of switching to WOW.

I have the same problem too. I pay close to $140 for cable and Internet with twc and they just mentioned a couple days ago another 4% increase starting Dec. 1st. I'm getting rid of cable altogether. Researching online for alternatives.

We got rid of DirecTV this summer, went with U-Verse for a very short time, then cancelled altogether. Our U-Verse box shut down on us frequently, and erased everything every time. The technician who came to replace our box told me it was par for the course. So we cancelled and went with Roku. It's a little box that enables you to stream your Netflix and Hulu accounts to your TV. We love it, and now pay less than $20 a month for those 2 accounts! You just buy the Roku box (the basic is under $100), and then there are no fees through them.

Jenna, is the roku box just like streaming through the wii or any other gaming console?
Right now we have a wii and soon an xbox 360.

We just bought netfil and will be doing hulu when we get the kids the xbox for Christmas since hulu doesnt run on wii right now.

Also switched my phone to Voice Pulse and can keep my same phone number. Couldnt with majic jack, i already talked to someone. So I will be getting my phone and tv for a max of $45 a month and if i stick with tw cable internet which i think I will that only another $45 so $80 a month, Im happy with that. That will save me $1,200 a year!
