HOT DH decided to go grocery shopping!!!

I am so irritated!!! Yesterday my husband decided to go grocery shopping while I was at work yesterday. He couldn't wait until today when I had the day off and for me to go do it. He went grocery shopping and blew our entire 2 week grocery budget and got barely anything!!! He thinks ground beef, milk, cereal, tomato sauce, potatoes & ramen is groceries! WTH??? How am I supposed to feed a family of 4 on that???

Those items are groceries but they wont last two weeks for 2 people unless you have other items to put with them already.

If he did not use any coupons I do understand why you are upset tho. Most men will not go unless there is something that they want for that one day and they dont worry about the rest of the week at all. So dotn come down to hard on him just try to teach him about coupons and sale shopping so next time he can look for deals to

Well, it doesn't look like he bought junk (except the Ramen ), that list looks pretty basic, like he was trying to get food for eating.
But I totally understand the frustration when the dh shops and spends far more than necessary! It takes some training and for some hubbies, like mine, they might never fully understand the couponing mind-set. I've learned to be a little more relaxed about it, but I admit, it's hard to do!

Lovely! I guess I am lucky that my husband hates going shopping. There have been times when I was sick or unable to walk and he had to go. He would only buy 12 items or less at a time so that he could get in the express lane. And even though I sent him off with a specific list, he might still bring back strange things that were not what I wanted. He can't take the time to read labels and get what I want. For instance, I really needed Kotex Overnight pads. He brought me back some weird other brands of pads that were not Overnight. This was right after I had the baby so the beefy pads were needed. Luckily my mom was visiting and she got me those. But it is highly annoying when I have planned to make a recipe and he swaps out an ingredient. Like bringing me an artichoke instead of an onion because it looks more interesting. And coupons? Forget about it.

If you have the receipt (and he hasn't eaten the food yet) you can most likely return the non-perishable items. A pain, I know. But most stores will take the stuff back.

I have worked hard to keep extra food in the house. If I have to go a week without buying anything, I can. I can even go two weeks. Yes, I will probably run out of soda pop. And at some point I will run out of fresh produce. My daughter eats gluten free bread. I buy it in 2 slice packages and it is good for many months after I buy it. For myself I keep a bag of frozen rolls that I can bake if needed. And we have powdered milk for cooking. Shelf stable milk for when husband is home. Daughter and I don't drink milk.

Use a coupon??? Are you kidding me?? He went to Walmart, I text him and told him to ad match the milk for $1.57 at Fry's and he wouldn't even do that!!! And forget about buying produce. Not even a bag of frozen veggies. SMH

My DH did that last Sunday. He said he wanted football food. He bought a bunch of junk. Mainly frozen greasy appetizer stuff and beer of course. He spent $50 and used not a one coupon.

I feel for you on the budget damage but feel badly for him too.

I guess he wanted to help?

Did he know you wanted to go on your day off? As much as I understand how frustrating it is, he sounds like he was trying to help - and it sounds as if he did better than some: Beef, milk, cereal, sauce & potatoes are certainly groceries in my house. At least he wasn't buying doritos and hostess cakes instead of milk....

How much is your grocery budget? It only sounds as if he bought $25-$35 worth of groceries.
