HELP My daughters cap came off....:(

My daugther whos 4 had to have 7 caps put on her teeth. Only one was real bad but they chose to pull the bad one and but 7 caps on her other back teeth.

This was done back in Febuary of this year.

She had 2 gum infections within the first month. That finally cleared up. We always thought there was a slight problem because the caps seemed to have a slight gap between the gum line and the cap.

Well tonight one of those caps came off......

I am planning on doing a temporary fix with the dentix repair kit, im just hoping i don't mess anything up. I can't leave it open untill we get to the dentist, but I am afraid of messing everything up.....

It was hard enough for her to go through this whole ordeal in the first place. We always brushed her teeth, flossed and mouth washed, but she still managed to get cavities.... Its so weird, her twin brother whom we did everything the same with has had no cavities...sensative teeth??

I am at a loss for what to do, anyone have any experience with this??

I would imagine they're just temporary caps correct? I had a temporary cap and it popped off all of the time because it was glued on with non permanent glue. I went to the dentist and they reglued in back for me and then after that well I shouldn't tell you this but I used super glue. Yikes.

I am assuming they are temporary. She is 4 years old. Turns 5 on Nov. 12th. They said that whey would come off around age 11 or so when she loses her back teeth to get permenent ones.

Im just really hoping that they don't make us go to buffalo, which is 2 hrs away again to get it fixed....

Aww the poor thing what an ordeal to go through at such a young age. My Godson had to have 4 caps done when he was four and his mother did everything to prevent it brushing, flossing ect. Sometimes it just happens i think it has alot to do with Genes. Anyways i hope all goes well and you have no more issues.

Thanks. I finally found a dentist, after many phone calls.

First i called toy town, the place that did the caps initally, but is 2 hrs away and wanted us to come in this week. Couldnt....Called our reg. dentist. They said they don't do caps. So i called another office, who was closed untill tomorrow. Then i did a yahoo search and called another one in the same town. They don't take pediatric patients, but reffered me to someone else in another town close by, so i called them...2 week wait, but they did refer me to another dentist......by this time i was getting tired. Finally this last dentist, said they were booked till january, so i told them my story and said they would see her wednesday..thank the Lord :)

I Just hate for her to go through all this. I have the same kind of teeth as well and know what its like. I guess all I can do is pray that she has better adultt teeth.

Good luck to your daughter. My DS had to have crowns on every single one of his baby teeth except the very front ones. And we brushed his teeth for him every single day and night. My neighbor just let her kids brush their own teeth willy nilly and neither of them ever got a single cavity. So I definately believe genetics have something to do with it. As soon as my DS permanent teeth came in I had every molar sealed and now he has beautiful perfect white straight cavity-free teeth. So there is hope!

Wow, I had no idea that children could get/need crowns on baby teeth! Poor girl. Do you use Act fluoride rinse at night? It couldn't hurt to use it. And I could ask your dentist about applying sealant to her back adult teeth once they come in.

So sorry to hear that! I definitely think genetics plays a role. I get cavities no matter how much I brush, floss, and rinse. My DH, who I have to remind to brush (which means he doesn't do it while he's on the road for work) hardly ever gets a cavity!

I hope you're able to fix it and she won't have to go back in.

Well we did go see the dentist, but they said I did a good job fixing it with the dentek stuff that they were just going to keep it that way for now. We have decided to switch to this dentist :)
