    I threw them away, disgusted.
I have the same realization, when I saw hfcs, I was flabbergasted. I thought I found a good buy, but NOW I have to keep reading labels even @ Aldi

DH likes corn tortilla chips, I found the restaurant style similar to Tostitos there the cheapest @ 1.19 per bag but I was horrified with the contents. I have to take time now not just checking the prices, but all the contents, as well. The less processed foods are, the better for us altho' it requires more time and effort to prepare. But in the long run, I can live with less MD visits and RX to buy which end up more expensive than buying good food. Life is all about trade offs, we choose the ones we can live with.

This reminds me of a quote i saw yesterday.
Many people, especially americans, work their buts off for their money, avoiding their health issues and ignoring them.
They then in the end have to pay for healthcare because they ignored the signs of illness or whatever to begin with.
Basically we end up flying by in life and end up dying and we never really lived at all.

So just the same with food. We either spend the money on healthy food or we spend the money on health related issues.

Very very true! It's really sad we buy what we can afford and in the end it harms us. I would love to have a bigger food budget to include more fresh produce and better cuts of meat. I do the best I can with what I can afford. Dh and the boys are by no means over weight but since I have been out of work and now pregnant I am leaning toward the over weight side of the scale. With my boys I was pregnant during the summer months when I could grow lots of fresh veggies. I feel like this baby is gonna be gipped, I just take my vitamins and hope for the best.

I understand about being able to buy healthier food. My mom is in the boat where the government gives her just $200 month to live on for food. She has my two sisters who are 15 and 10 living with her. She only makes 1,000 to 1,200 a month and that doesnt even pay all her bills.
She would love to eat healthier but its so hard when you don't have a lot of money to purchase food. I told her that though i know she wants to eat healthy and feed my sisters healthy, but when you have to eat, you have to eat.
I would rather her get enough food to last the month even if it is processed. At least they wouldnt be hungry :(
I hate to see that so many people are going through this these days, it shouldn't be like this.
