HOT girl about drowned at hotel pool

Well this is so upseting to my friend and me. We or at the hotel swimming with our 3 kids that 2 can swim and the other wears a life jacket. Well these 2 kids come in around 16 with a girl maybe 5 or 6. They keep having the girl swim to the deep in and she can't swim so keeps swallowing tons of water. The teen watching her would just let her go for a few sec like maybe 30 sec and pick her out water with shirt. She is keep going under and swallowing water. Well by the 4th time my friend and me have had it. We tell these girls that the little girl can't swim and they better just keep her in shadow water. We can't sit there and watch this girl get anymore water in her lungs. The girls don't say anything to us and put her in shallow in. Then we heard 1 girl saying when we leave she will put her back in deep in! Well we go to front desk to tell on these girls not watching this girl. The front desk lady said the girls said they or 18 and she couldn't do anything about it. We have a close friend that lost a 18 month to drowning last summer. I will not sit there and be a part of a little girl drowning. My friend I. Or happy that we spoke out for a little girl that didnt Have a voice.

I would have dialed customer service for the hotel and told them what was going on (that you were concerned about safety in the pool and the staff working refused to look into the situation, I'm sure they'd much rather the employee went to check for ID's, the child safety than face bad publicity if a child drowned. I realize the pools all saw swim at your own risk)...from the side of the pool.

I would NOT have left that pool area leaving that poor child to be repeatedly put into the deep end.

If the staff still refused to do something I think I'd be tempted to dial 911 for child abuse/attempted homicide/something. Let the police knock some sense into them.

We did go talk to the lady at the front desk. She went and talk to the girls at the pool about the little girl. The front desk lady said the 1 girl was 18 watching so she couldn't do anything about it. I told her what was going on and she said she can't say who can swim. We even yelled at the girls that had her and told them to stop having her go deep in. Kids can die when they get to much water in the lungs.

I would have filmed what was going on. Then I would have called 911 and arranged to post it to the police and right after that I would have called the child abuse hotline and done the same. Then I would have talked to the hotel clerk and if they did nothing, I would have called the hotel's customer service line and sent them them the video, as well. I believe the police are required to investigate reports of child abuse. I doubt I would have spoken directly to them if I wasn't on my way out of the hotel for fear they'd key my car or worse. There are authorities charged to deal with child abuse and I would sure see to it they knew about the situation. If I or someone with me had spoken up and then heard them say they'd do it again as soon as I left, I would just camp there until the pool closed if necessary. All the same, that child probably owes the OP her life. What a sad life for that little girl!

Hopefully that scared the 18 year olds enough to get them to stop.

If anyone see's something similar...(and what the hotel should of done) is call the police. the police doesn't care that they are 18. child abuse is child abuse, neglect is neglect. child endangerment is child endangerment..and what they were doing...is basically all of that.

Well I will go the police next time this happens! When my friend yelled at the girls and told them to stop putting her in deep in or we would call someone they did put her in shadow in the rest time we or there. What made me mad right before we going to leave they or talking about putting her back in deep in. They kept on not paying attention and letting her just go under water. My dad was staying at hotel and my friend and I wasn't so or not worried about our cars. They looked way to young to be the girls parent. I wonder what the parent of this child would have said if they say what was happening to this child.

    Lots of kids have babies.
It just occurred to me they probably got hold of about half the information regarding these swim lessons for infants. Among other things, you don't just put them in the water. You blow in their face so that they reflexively draw in a breath, close their mouth, and hold it. Then they don't go swallowing half the pool. Or at least that is the purported info.

The purpose of these lessons isn't actually to train the child to swim so much as to train them to be able to stay afloat briefly to give time for them to be rescued should they somehow gain access to a body of water such as a pool and fall in. The whole idea is suspect at best in my view, and experts like pediatricians and even the Red Cross seem to agree.

Children who go through these lessons have a much higher rate of ear infections during and right after the period of the lessons, particularly ear infections of a type that somehow tests as relating to pool water. There have also been cases of various other infections probably contracted from the pool water. A couple of them sounded quite gross. I'd think a hotel pool would be more prone to that sort of thing what with just anyone that stays there using the pool and no one really out there acting as a lifeguard and making sure people aren't getting things into the pool or whatever.

There have been cases of children dying from water poisoning due to swallowing too much water and from drowning. No info if that was because they were not doing it properly or if actually the kids end up swallowing water anyway. Those who advocate these lessons say it is because they were doing it wrong, of course, and they may be right. I can't say as this was not well established in the studies.

Actual lessons of this type are of extremely limited duration - say blow in face put child in the water about a minute a handful of times and otherwise let them play supported. Also, they are not normally done in the deep end because in deep water, the adult in charge of the child will not have adequate ability to support the child as they will be too busy working to support themselves.

Multiple reviews of groups of kids at the age at which Red Cross first offers regular swim lessons - I think four? - has found children that have had the lessons have no better water skills to start with than those who did not take baby swim lessons and they don't learn to swim faster. Or at least this was the information we found on multiple websites a while ago when we researched all this for my grandson.

At best, I'd say no one should be trying this just randomly in a hotel pool, and certainly it should cease if it is bothering other people.

Oh my goodness...There are alot of things young kids think is funny...We watched a group of teens sit and let a puppy bite and nip and lick a small baby maybe 8 months old while the teens laughed...I realized that they were just letting this happen and I started arguing with one of the kids and I got so irrate that I had to leave because they were under age and I didnt wanna go to jail!! I would have video taped that poor girl and then I probably would have ended up arguing with them until they decided to leave but first I woulda told the desk lady that she should really check some ID and take some names cuz they are gonna have a drowning in their pool and itd be best if they knew who was responsible!! Stuff like that makes me so angry!! Poor babies to have such a hard life to deal with!!
