This was posted on my Facebook, and before I get all boycottie (considering the source, right?) I'd like to get others input. If this is true I for one am extremely offended.
"Don't buy the new Pepsi can coming out with pics of the Empire State building and the Pledge of Allegiance on them. Pepsi left out 2 little words in the pledge "Under God." Pepsi said they didn't want to offend anyone. So if we don't buy them, they won't be offended when they don't receive our money with the words "In God We Trust" on it. How fast can u re-post???"
So what do you all think?![]()

Thanks for posting reminding me about Snopes.
Even if it were true, I wouldn't care. I don't care if businesses make religious references. I don't care if they leave them out, either. I don't drink Pepsi because I don't really like it.
It kind of reminds me of the big Procter & Gamble boycott in the 80's(?) when people claimed the company was promoting satanism with satanic symbols.

Thanks for the input, and the link to snopes (I really need to remember to check there first). As far as being offended, I'm more offended by the idea of a company using an altered pledge to sell product, while trying not to offend others with the pledge kwim? (good, cuz' I don't lol). Not so offended by which two particular words, though not thrilled by the (hypothetical) choice.

Ah, I see. Still doesn't (or wouldn't) bug me, but I am pretty pledge and religion indifferent.

My sentiments as well.
I don't think that a company trying not to offend people is a bad thing, even if they still end up offending some. You can't please everyone, and I think sometimes people are just too easily offended these days so that makes it even harder to please everyone.
Also, a nice history fact for ya is that the words "under God" weren't even added till the mid 50's...so not having those words in the pledge was the norm for over 100 years.![]()
#1 due Sept. 5th
This reminds me....
someone posted this on their fb page:
I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!
MY GENERATION GREW UP RECITING THIS EVERY MORNING IN SCHOOL WITH HAND ON HEART. THEY NO LONGER DO THAT FOR FEAR OF OFFENDING SOMEONE!
LET'S SEE HOW MANY AMERICANS WILL RE-POST THIS AND NOT CARE ABOUT OFFENDING SOMEONE
So then I mention that my Daughter's school (in the same town that they live in) does recite the pledge of allegiance (including under god) each and every day.
I'm find, happy and joyful that my kids says the pledge of allegiance every day at school...but posting that patriotic crap on FB annoys the heck out of me.
