And for future walks I would try to dress down as much as I could.

Oh I definitely do that. I was wearing workout pants and an old t-shirt. No makeup and just kind of threw my hair up.

But, get around a chiuaua (sp?) might as well cut your own ears off.

Seriously though, the classes are a good idea. I may look into those too. My DH is NAVY and has taught me some very good defensive moves (very Jason Bourne type stuff) but since I don't practice them I tend to forget how to do them. A class where I practiced over and over would probably get it stuck in my head real good.

Are tasers allowed in your area? I know of a few women who carry them as opposed to concealed weapons.

The mace is a good idea as well.

Unfortunately they are illegal to carry here. DC has really strict laws when it comes to owning personal defense items. I am gonna get the mace or pepper spray...I do have to register it with the police dept though.
