Thought I had heard everything!

First of all I am not HUTC over this but thought I would share with you all. My dd was a bit HUTC at first but later was ROFL.

She went to a party (summer get together) tonight with over 40 people there. It was a potluck food sharing event. Lots of food in fact. She went to put a dessert on her plate and noticed a slip of paper in front of it that said - Mrs. So and So's Cake Balls with $2 written in the corner. There was a glass jar with money in it, so she went to take a cookie bar next to them. As she had her fork under the goodie, a woman tells her - those are $1.00. She took her fork out and walked away as someone who observed the incident shouted out for her to come eat some of the FREE food.

Now, tell me, who brings a dessert to a party and charges for it like this?

Is this a new trend or just poor taste?

Huh. Exactly what kind of gathering was this? Family? Work event?

I mean, my brownies are seriously amazing, but I can't see bringing them to a potluck and charging for them.

DD says it was quite bizarre and out of place with all the food there. It was given by someone her BF works with. There was music, and lots of people (40+) with most bringing something to share. I don't know if the hostess knew that this one person was charging for her dessert.

All I can say was these must have been quite the Cake Balls (whatever those are).

Could there have been an additional fundraiser that your DD may not have been informed about? Geesh, I really hope so.
