    Default Freecycle items were sold

I know that this is a very controversial topic so I am not out to bash anyone. I am just frustrated and I just feel like venting. Recently a lady posted an ad on Freecycle that she was searching for all kinds of books. I thought that she was going to read or donate them for something so I went through all of my son's books and rounded up several trashbags full to give her.

The day she was supposed to come and get them she was late so I was already headed into town to run errands and here she pulls up calling me asking where I was at. I drove home and got the books for her and she seemed like such a nice lady and she had a young daughter whom I thought would be getting these books.

Needless to say I saw a post on Craigslist tonight and this lady has listed everyone of the books I gave her for sale. When I was reading the post I started noticing a lot of similarities in the books that I gave her then I realized I gave her everyone of those books.

I am just so frustrated with freecycle in general because it seems like everyone is out to get stuff. I have constantly been giving stuff away on freecycle and almost everyone I deal with has been late or no show. Yet when I post wanted ads I have never heard from anyone.

What opinons do you all have about Freecycle?

It is unethical to resell Freecycle items. Most groups have rules against it. You need to contact the mod now and let them know. If you can provide the e-mails back and forth and a link to the Craigslist ad, that would be even better.
I know your frustration. It seems like all of the items I offered were being replied to by the same few people.

I looked through the FAQ section and didn't see anything about but I am going to contact the mod and see what they say. Bad part about it is I searched it on google to see what other people had to say about it and their was blog post saying make money on Freecycle by asking for things and them reselling them. Terrible!

I had a similar experience once with Freecycle, and I agree that it is disheartening. However, the majority of my experiences have been positive.

Selling items from Freecycle on CL will get someone immediately and permanently banned from my local group. I've seen the mod send out messages saying 3 strikes you're out for no shows too. I'd definitely email the mod.

On our local FC sites it is plainly listed that items are not listed to be sold. Someone needs to tell her what free means and report her ASAP.

OP I'd be HOT about this.

That is just wrong! I would be ticked off too. I too would report her to both CL and FC.

OP... I also believe you should email the mod with all the emails and link to the CL ad. Selling what someone is giving you on Freecycle is just WRONG.

I've got a bin that I toss stuff in every now and then to freecycle. I then put out a huge misc post and more often than not, here lately anyway, the same woman comes for the stuff. (guess i buy to much stuff with q's )
I would be ticked if I found out she made a profit on something I gave her. More often than not, though, most folks have been really grateful to receive whatever I have posted.

    just my two cents....

I agree with the PP's. I would contact the mod immediately and maybe do a screen shot of the craigslist listing and send it along with it.
