Here's my take. Because it violates the terms of Freecycle, they shouldn't have been re-sold. However, in general, just to take something someone is giving away and resell, I don't have a problem with it.
I work for a local freebie paper. People put stuff in the 'for free" section all the time.
example: free canning jars must take all, free tv antenna, must haul, etc etc etc.
As long as there's no agreement to not resell, then I'm fine with that, but since that's not the casse with freecycle, she should have looked elsewhere to get books.

OT but, I thought it was funny and cool at the same time...I looked in "my paper" and found a wanted ad for coupon inserts..."call to arrange for me to pick up, or you can drop off"
Why didn't I think of that?

I've used Freecycle in the past with mixed results. I will say this, I was gifted childrens clothes from a friend of mine, around 12 bags full. Neither her child nor mine put any wear on them. It was all good quality stuff, gymboree, Gap,etc. I passed them and my dd outgrown books and toys to my SIL's stepdaughter who then turned around and posted them all on Kijiji for sale. She posted it on FB as well (that's how I knew about the ad). When one of her friends questioned why she wouldn't at least keep the books for her daughter (because her daughter has developmental delays), she stated she didn't have room for a bunch of dust collectors on her shelves (anyone wonder why her kid has "delays"?). I didn't respond to the post at all, but I could have sold the stuff myself (I could certainly use the cash too), but I offered them in the same spirit they were given to me and I didn't feel right selling them. Needless to say I have not and will not offer her anything else. I specifically stated when I passed the stuff on to keep what you want, but pass on to someone else that needs it ,what you don't....not sell it all for beer money.

Reselling isn't against the 'rules' for our local groups but I always put NO RESELLERS on my posts... that way if a reseller does actually take the stuff and I find out about it they can be banned for that because I specified in the offer no resellers. And I agree resellers should not be allowed period!!!!
