I don't have any advice. I've never moved as an adult. I think the worst part would be moving a stockpile though.
I hope you find a great place.
Ugh, I'm moving again! I just moved here to Orange Park, FL in December, we signed a 7 month lease, because it was cheaper and I was *hoping* that we would just sign a 12 month lease in July. WELL, it seems the rent will go up around $200 a month and we CAN'T afford that. SO it seems we are moving again! They need a 60 day notice which means by May 14th we need to know where we are going and if we are going and if not we need to be prepared to pay the extra $$! I am SO sick of moving. This is our 12th move in a little under 8 years, LONG story I'll tell it one day but not right now. SO I have no idea where to start. We have been in apartments forever and we are thinking about maybe looking into a house to rent. We need 3 bedrooms or either a 2bedroom with a bonus room. I have no idea where to start. I 'swagbucks'"rentals in orange park" and a million sites come up, I am starting to go through them all but ugh, just so overwhelming. I want to stay in Clay county so we could just transfer the electricity instead of having to worry about starting new service...our credit stinks! Another reason why we may need to stay, I'm afraid no one else will take us! ARG! Any idea if Realtors handle rentals? And do we pay them? How does that work?
Thanks for 'listening'.

There's a really nice community in Keystone Heights. The majority of Keystone Heights is Clay County (with EXCELLENT school systems in Keystone). I know they have apartments there. The area is really relaxed and quiet and family oriented. Downfall is it is roughly 20-25 mins from where you are now and it is small. We moved from there in 2008. I have a name of a realtor in the area who helped us sell our house. She was excellent. PM me if you'd like her contact info. As far as Orange Park, I'd definitely shop around. It's a larger area and you should be able to find something local to where you are now in all price ranges. Starke also has apartments for cheaper, but then you'd be in Bradford County and their school systems SUCK. I am very familiar with the area as I grew up there and stayed in the area (Orange Park, Starke, Keystone & Gainesville) until I was 21. You're welcome to send me any questions!

Sorry you have to move. I do it frequently so I know the frustration well.
I have one bit of advice though...next time you if you sign a lease with an individual and rent a house...ask that a cap ($ amount or percentage of rent) be set in writing in the lease for increases in rent upon lease renewal, and that a certain amount of time of notice (ex:30-60 days) be given as well. We have always done this. Don't think our rent has ever gone up more than $50/month this way with an individual landlord.
Apartments are notorious for what has happened to you. That was the primary reason we stopped living in them. They lure you in with cheaper rent and seeming to meet your needs (7 month lease)...and then they gouge you.
Good luck.

Doesn't moving so often cost more in the long run?
