    Default Low quality clothing

    Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed the low quality of clothing in stores?

I normally shop at JCP for their clearance clothing because I can get great clothing for really good prices when they do their semi-annual clearance. I also shop their for their Arizona jeans because they're the only brand of jeans that fit me correctly.
The problem that I have is the jeans don't last very long. I normally have holes in the butt near the pockets of jeans within 6 months of buying the jeans! Now I've contacted the company and got one pair replaced but it keeps happening.
On top of that, the shirts that I buy for myself tend to pile in the front. I just bought a bunch of shirts on clearance at the end of January and over half look like they're really worn out. I only wash them in the washing machine then I lay them out to dry on my drying rack.

I just contacted them again because of these problems and I'm hoping for a response to my issues.

Does anyone know of a store that carries clothing that lasts?

i prefer old navy. their tshirts seem to last a while. i prefer their jeans as they are lower priced and are long enough for my legs. the jeans fair pretty well. i had a pair for 3 years and i just now put a hole in them.

if you are having that many issues, i would switch brands. or stores all together.

I get my jeans from Lane Bryant and I haven't had a hole yet.

Have you tried thrift shops like Goodwill, or are you put off by pre-owned clothing? I'm always able to find sturdy clothing that has been broken in, and that way I can tell how it wears and lasts. Many are well made brand names. I got a really nice LL Bean fleece jacket a few weeks ago for $4. Our Goodwill has Happy Hour Mondays where most clothing is half price, so I get really nice shirts for a buck and a half, and jeans for about $3. I get better deals and better made stuff there than anywhere, but I think it's because it's already broken in (though there is some new with tags stuff there) and the quality is very easy to discern. I agree that things just don't seem to be made like they used to be.

Totally agree with motherofmolly...LOVE Old Navy clothes. That is almost the only brand in my closet. They too have great clearance sales and their clothes last a LONG time!!
Check out Old Navy!! They have a lot of different style jeans and lengths. Also love their summer things, super cute!!

Another thread reminded me-- have you tried LL Bean? IME their stuff lasts forever, and they have a very generous return policy. They have sales and clearances all the time, plus sometimes coupon codes and gift card offers.

It's funny so many are suggesting Old Navy. I personally think their stuff is very cheap. Although I haven't bought jeans there, I'd say about half of the shirts I have bought there have either been cut crooked, gotten holes because they are so thin, or lost their hems. Until recently, I would have recommended GAP jeans...but I just wrote a HUTC vent about a pair of their jeans splitting on me a week ago. I know GAP and Old Navy are the same company really, so maybe the same quality regardless of the price difference. Wish I could suggest a better option, but after my experience...I am also looking.

I agree with you...Old Navy stuff for the most part i see inferior to Gap (but better then Walmart). For the kids I haven't had much of an issue.....but we bought my husband a bunch of clothing at Old Navy once and it was pure junk.

For me...NOTHING fits me at Old Navy unless I wanna wear hoochie mamma jeans with my butt crack showing and NO ONE wants to see that.

I have to agree. A friend of mine and I were just talking about this last weekend. She took her daughter to ON to shop and she said everything she looked at, you could see right through. I love buying my sons clothes from there, but womens clothes are so thin and dont seem to fit right.. And to me just not worth the money. My husband usually wears a 2x and ON 2x's dont even come close to fitting him.

Now for jeans, since I wear them almost everyday at least 6 months out of the year for my job, I go through alot of jeans. I am particular to Levi's since they are the only brand that stand up to all of my walking (with big thighs) bending and washing them 3 x's a week. I do own 2 pair of St Johns Bay jeans (jcpenney) and I like them, but dont fit me as well as my Levis do.

Kohls Sonoma brand is by far the worst though, that stuff shrinks up so much its crazy. I will buy any other brand but that one.

I wear alot of Liz & Co. and A.N.A and those brands seem to be very versatle, sturdy and good for the price.
