HOT Store Refusing To Accept Coupons or Honor Their Coupon Policy

Okay so I am curious about something, I know there are a lot of hardcore couponers here and need some input.

    Here's the situation:
A local store here doubles up to $1, this week laundry detergent is on sale for $2.19 ($.19 a bottle AC). Personally I think this is a great price to stockpile on as it is generally not that cheap in my area after coupons. I also know I am not the only person in town that coupons/stockpiles (I used to work at this store as did most of my family so I am pretty familiar with their policies.) My problem is, even though you are allowed to do multiple transactions (You can do X amount, and then if there is a line, you have to go to the back of the line, do X amount again, ect.) tonight when I called the store to place a special order as I did not want to clear the shelves every night and take away from everyone else (Have over 100 coupons for the product) the store manager told me that he did not think it was within their policy to allow that many coupons/transactions. Funny thing is they've done it before as long as you special order the product ahead of time. The manager told me that he would call cooperate in the morning and let me know what they say. It just stumps me as I know I am not the only one doing this or even ordering that many even with coupons (I know a few others that do it every week with 100+ transactions). I guess my question is, what would you do if a store refuses to honor their policy as printed on their website to accept/double a coupon and allow unlimited transactions?

ETA: I have a huge family and am usually the one doing the majority of the shopping for everyone. I tried to explain this but I honestly think he thinks I'm insane for wanting so many bottles of laundry soap.

I wouldn't wait for him to call. I would call myself and note who I spoke to and exactly what they said.

If he won't do it your easy way, take your huge family in there every night, shelf clear and do one giant congo line at the register. Maybe he'll learn the next time to listen to you.

Bad thing is I usually do too! I have NEVER done this amount of transactions before, with the most being 10 I think. I did however call another store since the woman that handles policies at the corporate office is not at her desk to see what they said, and they were a lot more willing to work with me even after I explained I had X amount of coupons and would need to do that many transactions. So needless to say I think I will start shopping at that store even though it is a drive from where I live it might be worth it not to deal with the attitude from the managers at my local store.

I guess I would just go in and wipe out his shelves. If he says something to you, that would be the time to address the issue that he won't special order you the product.

When you said that you're not the only one couponing/stockpiling, I have to wonder just what's been taking place since TLC was ever so kind as to show unrealistic shopping adventures over...and over....and over... And I have to wonder if managers have been given a heads up from DM's or corporate concerning a limit on how much they can sell at these prices or during doubles, etc..

In the economy we're in, stores have to be hurting too & they would be losing $100.00 for the laundry detergent alone. So, while I understand why it would upset you, I also understand their position because so many are taking advantage of sales these days & that affects them & how much they can afford to sell at these prices.

But I am sorry, cause I know it rots.

Follow Oprah's rule..."Never accept a NO from someone who is not qulaified to give you a YES!" If someone else is signing his/her paycheck...keep climbing up the ladder.

Always...talk to the "top dog," ideally in person...and always follow-up with a letter.

Meggers- Trust me I do understand it from that point of view. I guess the part that is so frustrating is even if you are only doing 2 transactions they still frown upon it and say you are not able to do it. For some reason now the store has stopped accepting ANY and ALL coupons period. I know it's not corporate doing so just this single store (or at least as far as I am being told) since another store is still accepting coupons. I can understand accepting so many but to take away the ability to save money just seems very wrong. Needless to say they have lost quiet a bit of business.

In that case, I totally agree about going above his head. I had a certain Walgreens that started making up rules. I haven't stepped foot in that store in 2+ years. But I have 14 other Walgreens in the metro here & I'm sure you don't have that luxury, so don't take it sittin' down!
