I have no issue whatsoever with animals being where animals should be or are welcomed. Those places are truly few and far between though, and I think people with animal issues should simply avoid them, as there are way more people-friendly venues than animal-friendly...we have way more choices than Sparky and Fido :).

Well, I'm one of those that sometimes brings my (60-lb, part Dutch Shepherd--somewhat related to German Shepherd) dog into home improvement stores. I tell you, though, she is NOT allowed to rush at people. She's not even allowed to pull towards them. Same rule applies wherever...at school, park, Petsmart, whatever. She has to let the person approach her first (and even then, if she pulls, she gets put in a sit). She's actually gotten quite well-behaved with the exposure. I'm sorry it bothers some people, but I won't let her near you unless you ask or VERY clearly start moving toward her. I know not everyone is that strict with their dogs, though.

Now, taking dogs into Walmart, grocery stores, etc....no way on that. And if my dog peed on ANYTHING in public....I would correct her, move very quickly to clean it up, and then go crawl in a hole with her!

I have allergies. I had to quit qorking at Hallmark because I stood in front of the Yankee candle display. While cashiering. My allergies weren't that bad until that job. I understand allergies. I'm so glad I'm a couponer, cos I get my meds for free or really cheap now...since I don't have insurance that will pay for them.
I do agree with you tho. One thing that comes to mind, I wish they'd stop, is the 'wafters" or whatever they are called in department stores. the ones who wave the perfume around at the front door.
I do wish there were some pet friendly stores besides the pet store tho". Just a few, not every store..but it'd be nice to have a couple of choices. my dog is clingy and has seperation problems (due to past owners) She loves to go out "shopping" tho

Congrats on the pregnacy! No your not crazy because those things would annoy me also even on my best of days. I am so tired of parents and the cellphone, computer, whatever gizmo they have their head buried into 24/7. Pay attention to your kids! Even if they are not peeing in the corner or doing a stripshow on the slide put the blackberry down and watch your kids having fun. Nobody really cares all that much on facebook or twitter that your at McD's right now so enjoy the moment your actually in instead of posting about it or reading about what others are doing.

About the dog situation...I do not mind if people bring their dogs with them into a store that allows pets. I wish I could bring my dog with me to the pet store but she doesn't like adult men (her previous owner abused her and he was a man). She loves kids and women though so I know she would love to go into pet friendly stores.

A little OT but this thread made me think of when we were in Naples, Florida last month. We were downtown and I have never seen so many people with their little dogs in dog strollers

The general consensus seems to be that people don't mind seeing pets in places that are pet-friendly. Are you aware that many Home Depots/Lowes are, in fact, pet-friendly? The store manager can decide to make his or her store "no pets allowed," but corporate does not have a blanket "no pets" rule.
