Baby #1 was 6 weeks early. No lasting effects as he is now a very healthy 6'5" and 220# and incredibly athletic. Baby #2 tried to come 6 weeks early, we learned and I went on bed rest. Baby #3 tried to come 6 weeks early, bed rest again. The moral of the story? Babies are resilient and medicine has come a long way in advancements with preemies. Don't judge, you may not have all the details.

Doctors are not always right about everything. If they were, we wouldn't have so many deaths occuring from medical malpractice. Perhaps they just felt the doctor was wrong. Who knows.

It does no good to be angry about the choices that others make. Don't let it eat away at you.

I agree with this. I had a friend who was angry at me for a long time, because I chose to have a baby instead of adopting. She knew I was struggling with infertility, and she kept insisting we adopt. She'd say "you are infertile, so you should adopt". She would even shove adoption brochures in my face, and forward me emails about adoption seminars. We finally had a baby, and she was fuming mad about it. She told me I was selfish and how dare I get pregnant, instead of adopting a needy child from a third world country. I think she actually made herself sick from all her angry feelings towards me deciding to have a child. I hope she gets therapy for it eventually, which is ironic, since she is in the counseling profession herself.

So the bottom line is, yes: people make their own choices regarding family planning, and we can't get worked up about other's choices.
