We have 6 (old) vehicles, though only 5 are insured right now; the newest one we have is a 2007 Toyota and it's horrible what we pay for vehicle insurance, thanks to hubs and 2 of my 3 girls.

He fell asleep on the way home from work a few years ag, went off the road, flipped and totalled his truck but thankfully he was fine.

Oldest daughter (21) has about 87 tickets (not literally, just seems that way); middle daughter (19) has 1 fender bender that she got into exactly 1 month after getting her license. I think I should ask for a refund on the driving courses they took.

Youngest (16) has had her license only 5 months so she has nothing on her record and I haven't had any tickets or anything in forever so she and I are the only ones not guilty.

I sent my parents into state-issued insurance when I was a teen/young adult. I had a thing for racing. I'm not sure how I kept my license. I wouldn't be able to in this day & age though.

The first day I had my license I stopped at a red light, then I just carried on like it was blinking or somethin.' The officer let me off cause he saw I just got my license. I'm sure he would never have believed that the officer who tested me gave me rave reviews to my mom & passed me on my first test.

OP, so...what did you decide? Did it all work out? Don't leave us hangin' here!

Couldn't you always take the class AFTER the court date and get the points removed?

    Not in my state.

However I want to share something that my new coworker told me today. She is currently in our state's training center to get her binding authority and because we live close to SC, there were a couple of border agents also getting their BA. The class had a discussion that involved pricing per state. NC is ranked 46(or 47) in the low pricing in the US. However we are also one of the few states that only surcharge with tickets or accidents, unlike the others who are just high overall. We also are one of the few that elect an insurance commissior that regulates the rates instead of having one appointed.

So basically what I share regarding insurance could only apply to my state.

Here is what happened. My husband had already made up his mind that I was going to the class because he doesn't want the ticket on my record. I suggested to him that he go to his event but once his mind is made up there is no changing it. I went to the class both days and I had to have my certificate overnighted to me. I wanted to turn it in Friday but the court clerk is not open. So on Monday when I am on a break from school I will take the certifcate to the clerk. I ended up paying sixty bucks for the class and the overnight fee. I hope I learned my lesson. I do tend to speed. My husband also told me that a family member of his told him they saw me speeding.

Bless your heart! Glad you got it taken care of. Well, almost. Just don't speed on the way to the courthouse!
