$20 OLAY rebate......TICKED!

Ok, let's just say I am FUMING RIGHT NOW! I got my $20 rebate stuff back in the mail today because of "the dates".

First the rebate was good 11/23 thru 12/31. I bought all my stuff Black Friday. Of the 7 receipts I mailed in..3 came back with the bottom 1/4 inch with the date TORN OFF. That is something I would not do...they weren't long receipts either....short ones. As I bought stuff, I tossed them in a pile til my BF shopping trips were done. Gathered them and then mailed them.

When I called...I didn't mention the dates torn, because I didn't even notice it until after I was already complaining about the dates. They said all I can do is remail them! I am so ticked right now...and even madder that I had 5 more receipts with the items trying to get another rebate...but I didn't make the $50...so last week I tossed them!

I'll be curious to see if this happens to anyone else....as I DID NOT rip of the bottom 1/4 inch of the receipts!!! VERY VERY ODDDDDDDDDDD

I guess when I mail them back and I get a 2nd denial...I'll tell them about the torn dates then, but I KNOW they'll deny it a 2nd time.

It's great I made money off all the stuff on original purchases so I'm not out....but I feel something shady went on at the rebate center.

I'm sorry, but not surprised. That's why I never do rebates, it seems like such a hassle. The one I did, I made sure I took photo's of everything going into the envie, and saved them in a rebate file on the desktop. I hope you get this straightened out to your liking.

just ask them if you can fax the copies in, I've done this before.

Oh my gosh, I'm soo sorry. I would call the clearinghouse number, somewhere on this site there is a list of them and how to tell which one to call. Insist you did not rip off those receipts. Did you by chance pay with a credit or debit? I've done that before, printed a small portion of my online bill, showing I had a purchase on that date, matching the total.

For example
11-28-10 WALMART $23.00

That really reeks - and $20 is a huge rebate - I'd be furious too.

I would mention NOW about the torn off receipts and ask them WHY this happened. This way they know that you realize something is up.

I don't do many rebates but when I do I always scan everything I send in.

It is the truth though, that they make them as difficult to comply with as possible - I actually read that somewhere.

That's aweful I hope it will all work out and you get you rebate. Just a few ideas if you didn't make copies, I learned the hard way that making copies can be benifical in this type of situation but other documentation might be able to back you up.
* Stores like rite aid and others *might* beable to pull a copy of your reciept with say a transaction number or a date. I think walmart and others have this ability too. Paper trails are great you have everything you need you know the date and the store you purchased it all you need is to have a reprint of the receiept with the date.

Also I had one rebate denied and I din't have copies of my reciepts but knew I used our bank card to make the purchase so I pulled out my check register to verify my date of purchase, Then I called them and told them I didn't have doucumentation of my purchase however I paid with my bank card and it shows what store I used it at and I told them my store would be more than happy to pull me a copy of my reciept and they said that wouldn't be nessasary they will process my rebate.

Just a couple of thoughts for you. I know how upset you must be. Especailly having thrown some reciepts out that could have helped solve this matter rather quicly but knowing all the dates were there when you sent the material I too bet there was something shady happening. I would work on getting a re print from the store I know it will require a little leg work but we must not allow these companies to not pay when we follow through with the rebate subbmission.

Let us know how it all works out in the end. I would also love to hear if this has happened to others. I have always had good luck with P&G makes me wonder a little now.

Oh gosh! Thats awful. Hindsight is always 20/20, but I have learned over the years to
#1 Make Copies of Everything! & #2 Keep ALL Receipts. Usually beginning of Feb of the following year, I just trash the cash receipts.
And now I circle the purchase dates on my receipt

I had a problem last year with an Olay rebate, I believe the PM was like 1/15, I put it in the mail the day before, but they sent it back to me saying my submission was past the PM date. They sent my entire envelope back with the form & receipts. The PM was smudged, but if you looked closely, it was definitely a 3. I called and had to resubmit to a different address with a note about why I was resubmitting.

Make sure when you send it back, write a note know that upon closer inspection 3 of your receipts have the bottom part with the date torn off and you did not do that! Esp if you have a few more Wags receipts, maybe you can put the transaction #s in order.
Or, maybe like CouponQueen suggested, try going to Wags to see if they can pull up the transaction to reprint??
