Those "people" that do that are nothing but trash. I think I'd be choking up the money for a security camera, pronto. I bet the same ones who did it last year did it this time too.
Second year in a row that I have had my Christmas decorations destroyed... last year - wooden figurines were destroyed - and they weren't stolen... they just took them out of the ground and bashed them in the driveway and left the millions of pieces behind.... this year.... opted for those icicle type lights on the roof - ripped totally out and left behind.... Why do people do that? It's just mean and pure destruction - they aren't even stealing the stuff... just destroying it - and no one gets to enjoy it .... it appears they did it throughout my neighborhood... ruining lots of peoples decorations... It will be the last year I put up lights and that's unfortunate that you can't even put up lights and enjoy others lights because some people feel the need to be destructive.![]()

There was a teenager that systematically went through a local neighborhood here with a golf club and smashed everything last year. Some people just have a sick sense of fun.

You should file a police report. If everyone in your neighborhood who got their decorations destroyed did the same the police might patrole and have a better chance of cacthing the punks.
Don't let them make you stop decorating. Next year just attach some thumb tacks (tack side out) to the lights so when they grab them to pull them down they get an unwanted surprise.![]()
Brilliant....but of course now I am out of all lights and wooden figurines. I just can't believe kids or adults or whoever is doing it... could be so cruel... they aren't stealing the stuff - that would be bad enough... they are destroying them - and leaving them in a million pieces in your driveway... it happened to others in my neighborhood too and it's sad.... here people have the Christmas spirit and go to the work and effort to put lights out so everyone can enjoy them and then turds do this- the scariest part of all is - the lights and TV were on - people in the house when they did it... cause I was home all evening from the time I turned the lights on in the evening until I turned them off when I went to bed... so that takes guts.
You know what I would do??? I would first install a camera aimed right at the display(s). Then I would put ANOTHER display out there and sit and wait . . . . and hopefully catch the vermin.

I'd love to do that soccermom... the problem is - that gets expensive - buying a camera, having the sensor on it to record or even recording straight through all night. I have a friend who put a security camera on his home... he is sometimes amazed by what he sees people do at night.
I definitely understand. Maybe your friend could suggest something a whole lot cheaper than something permanent. Heck, maybe even a video recorder if you have one. I guess you see this is making me madder the more I think about it.
Two Christmases ago we ended up with someone's Baby Jesus in our yard - we recognized it from a home a couple of blocks away. Someone had destroyed their display and threw Jesus away!

It makes me mad too... I could see if kids were being stupid and just knocked over the reindeer or something to pull a prank - but to destroy the displays...that's going way too far.
At the risk of seeming obsessive about this - I googled some things and if you have a camcorder it can be used as a surveillance camera. Not trying to harangue you about this but I am determined to find an inexpensive solution that could be used, even if for next year.
