You do not need a security system. You need a webcam and a program with the ability to record all night.
Your not obsessive at all....just fired up and believe me, I understand... it takes a long time to put out decorations..... I don't have a camcorder - just a camera. I know, I know, I am not up on technology. They will get their wagon fixed - they do it to enough people - people will just not put any lights up at all - and then the vandals will have nothing to vandalize.

Please Help me saveon the things I need here!
if you can say a prayer for my family!
I must confess . . . I am a Duggar Lover
I'm shocked this happens.....I've{knock wood} never had anyone touch my Christmas decorations or smash my pumpkins....I even had a whole graveyard scene out on my lawn this Halloween and no one touched it. I don't get why that would be fun for someone. When we were kids, we TP'd trees and stuff, but we never destroyed someones property! I'm sorry you have to put up with this, I don't have any suggestions to help you, just sorry your decorations are ruined.

I even read you can use a digital camera for recording outside if it has a video feature.

I am sorry that some did that-I don't know why people feel that hurting someone like this is fun or funny. (((Hugs)))
I live 2 blocks from a College. I can't decorate. The college kids have smashed pumpkins, broken candy cane lights, ripped our christmas lights off our house, "jumped rope" with my lights, egged our home, soaped windows, etc, etc.
So, finally, we did something that probably wasn't right, but it was a nice revenge. Last year, we bought those wire spiral multi colored light christmas trees. My husband wired electric wire through them and "electrified" the wire. Now, if anyone touches our lighted trees, they get a small shock. So, they can't grab on to them. For the first time in years, we have a small decoration on the front lawn. The trees.
My kids are happy, they are 10 and 7, and they finally have some colored lights outside!!! We haven't figured out a way to secure the string lights, but maybe will we try thumb tacks.
Now..if I could stop the college kids from puking, peeing and passing out in my front yard...LOL.....
